About Me

Manchester-formed but London based, the Crane Brothers have steadily plied the indie gig circuit for more than a year building a reputation for outstanding live performances. The band carries a musical style that is very much their own but also rooted to the styles and sounds from the likes of The Specials, Toots Hibert, Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen. The result is a brotherhood of five genuine musicians slickly fusing ska with indie to create a rock based yet soulful sound with a vital contemporary edge.

Influences: We like Nick Cave, Otis Redding, Tom Waits, The Arcade Fire, The Holdsteady, The Mountain Goats, SOAD, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Solomon Burke, angry Drum 'n'Bass, most old soul music, Toots Hibbert, Twotone and the occasional bit of Hip Hop. We also enjoy the occasional drink or two. On the weekend.
Sounds Like: Blending chopping guitars with a powerful brass section, the sound is tricky to pin down but the Crane Brothers go down equally as well with indie kids as they do veterans of the 2-Tone scene. Think of them as a raw, fresh take on ska mixed with indie and a generous twist of northern soul.
