About Me

Dexter – the story so far…
Without a plan and without a clue, how have Dexter come from the back streets of Birmingham to pack out the Capital’s venues week in and week out; regularly receive thousands of hits a day on their Myspace account and have armies of fans queuing to hear their latest offerings?
Just great music…
As a band, the five-piece’s blend of 60s rock‘n’roll and modern punk-jingles has made a huge impact on the nation’s indie-scene, receiving airplay, rave reviews and breaking into the Myspace Top 10 numerous times (achieving 4 in mid-August).
Their debut EP – Loz Brazil (Arctic Monkeys, Pete Doherty etc.) produced ‘Flings and Roundabouts’ – sold out in stores across the capital and their latest offering, four tracks recorded by Ladyfuzz and Prodigy helmsman Dave Clarke, are slowly causing ripples prior to its 2008 release.
In the meantime, acts including Vincent Vincent and the Villains, To My Boy, The Harrisons and many more will be joined on stage by the boys as they kick-start their 07/08 schedule.
While the quality of their recorded output is obvious – as is its potential for mainstream markets – it is Dexter’s emphatic, blood-racing live performances that leave many other acts looking desperately unexciting.
The frenetic leadership of Rob and Sam’s partnership up front is bolstered by the solid rhythm section and sublimely finished off by the ska-tinged trumpet and organ.
It’s appreciated thousands of bands claim to be great every day, just as numerous magazines sell ‘your new favourite band’ stories to the masses week in and week out, but in Dexter it’s plain to see that without any media hype, big-budget promos or famous friends, they are one of the bands to watch out for… the wait is nearly over.
