Simon and the Ghost

Simon and the Ghost was originally set up by singer/pianist/songwriter Simon Prunty in the late stages of 2005. Originally intended as a vehicle for the young songwriters solo efforts fate somewhat interviened upon the arrival of the creative and fluid playing of bass player Fiachra Murphy. Along with Simons good friend and talented drummer Eoghan Cowan ( inspired by drumming legends such as Steve Gadd and Danny Carey ) the new 3 piece line up sparked in the most creative and inspired of ways and a more collective sound was born. With a shared love of bands and performers such as Primus, Pink Floyd, Mr.Bungle, Tom Waits and many more oddball influences, the band started to rearrange material once written solely by Simon ( Man is an Opera EP ) and co-write new and more daring songs and instrumentals. Combining a love of the theatrical and epic musical atmospheres, Simon and the Ghost are a band that are only just beginning on a journey to write and perform in ways they have never dared to go before, purposely detaching themselves from any mundane trends that plague the music industry and a devotion to always trying to create something original, interesting and exciting. And by the way they tend to not use guitars..... Don't look so shocked music wasn't invented on guitars now was it?? Open your minds people and let us in.....
