Hailing from Aberystwyth, Sam James (guitar and vocals) met Swansea born Eifion Austin (bass) drunkenly in a seafront pub. At some point that night I guess The Poppies were born and sooner or later a young drummer called Gethin Jones was introduced to the picture. Now living together in cardiff in search of the perfect 3 minutes The Poppies have been gigging mostly around Wales making an impact wherever they see fit. Highlights so far include releasing a welsh language single with the ciwdod label, doing sessions for Bethan and Huw's and Steve Lamaq's radio 1 shows at the bbc maida vale studios. An ever improving set of songs and an incresing variety of influences have made The Poppies a diverse band of chancers and jesters. The Poppies will release their first single in two years at the start of the summer. Hwyrach mlaen ymunodd drymiwr ifanc o'r enw Gethin Jones ac ers hyny maent wedi mynd o nerth i nerth. Nawr yn fyw mewn ty gydai gilydd mae'r Poppies yn byw yn yr obaith o ddarganfod y tri munud perffaith. Cyn belled maent wedi rhyddhau un sengl cymraeg ar label ciwdod, yn ogystal a recordio sawl sesiwn radio i bobl fel Bethan a Huw ar radio un a Steve Lamaq yn ogystal a gigio'n aml o amgylch Cymru. Bydd y Poppies yn rhyddhau ei sengl cyntaf mewn dwy mlynedd ar gychwyn yr haf.
