Greystar

Heavy Fuckin Metal!!!

About Me

Greystar is a metal band from Maine. It began in 1998, when Tanus Greystar (aka Matt Stacey) began to record his first and only release entitled “The New Dawn” demo, which he released in 2000. The first version of this cd had a very primitive looking black and white cover, and the production was not very good. Tanus sent copies of it to metal zines all around the world with mixed reviews. In 2002, Tanus remastered the cd, cleaning up the sound considerably, and greatly improved the cover. He also added a track entitled “Undestined to Die,” a song that was actually written around 1993. “The New Dawn” lyrically deals with many different subjects very personal to Tanus, including recovery from drug addiction (“Can’t Stop”), antichristianity (“Fuck You Jesus”), and the new millennium (“Warriors of the New Dawn”). Tanus plays all of the instruments on the demo, including vocals. He didn’t own a set of drums at the time, so all of the drum tracks on the cd are programmed.
In 2004, Greystar became a four-piece with Tanus on lead guitar, Chris on bass/keyboard, Scott on drums, and Lyn on vocals. After three shows, including an all day event in Norridgewock, Maine, called Metalmainea, the group disbanded over personal issues and musical differences. Now in 2008, Tanus is slowly beginning to record new music, and it remains to be seen whether or not Greystar will ever be more than a solo act again.
