About Me

Diana - Interior designer. Artist trapped in a suburban chick body. I amuse the hell out of myself. So.. what else? I'm opinionated, political, polite, and creative. I try really hard to buy locally as much as possible. When in California, I'm 50% locavore (eating foods produced within 100 miles), eschewing imported junk and eating locally is my contribution to slowing global warming. I'm mostly vegetarian, but eat some chicken and turkey to keep from starving (I'm just not clever enough to eat legumes every day without dying of boredom). My first thought upon waking is.. 'where can I go today'. I want to live my life to the fullest, and have so far. I'm not done yet.

My Interests

My interests: Art stuff. Baking everything, it's therapeutic, not like I need therapy or anything.. ummmm. Knitting, it's a productive addiction. Hey, have to add crochet, cuz I learned that, too. Political junkie. Dogs and cats... mostly dogs. Music, dancing, Karaoke Revolution till 1am. And Kundalini Yoga. Oh, and like every single product from LUSH! That stuff is addictive.

Music:

Elvis Costello, Blondie, Ella Fitzgerald, the Ramones, goldfinger, 24-7 Spyz, everything else, and I mean EVERYTHING. I have ecclectic musical tastes. Swing to funk to electronica to pop to metal to reggae. Some country music if it's got soul. I just like what I like. I'm listening to a lot of classical music lately. My fave is the Bach's Brandenberg Concertos, but love Vaughn Williams, Mozart, and anything sweeping and romantic. Mahler frightens me...

Movies:

Heavy, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Breaking the Waves, Amelie. All of the Thin Man movies. Any film noir. So I Married an Ax Murderer. Spaceballs. And lots of foreign films.. like Raise the Red Lantern, the Wedding Banquet. L.A. Story (one of the most profound love stories and commentary on life wrapped in a humorous package, Steve Martin is brilliant). The Butcher's Wife, Defending Your Life, Hudsucker Proxy, Short Cuts (an absolute fave) & Anything with John Cusack.

Television:

Not much of a tv person. I watch like 2 or 3 hours a week. I've become addicted to Brothers & Sisters on ABC, as it's not soapish, it's not dumbed down, and the characters and actors are amazing. Kevin is my favorite character. I love the Colbert Report when I think to turn on the tv. Loved the OLD Iron Chef shows, but they don't run anymore. :( If HGTV actually has a DESIGN show on, I'll watch that sometimes.. rarely.. and a few cooking shows on Food Network (who also seems to have abandoned their original mission of cooking shows in favor of dumbed down character driven schlock - but I'm not bitter.. no really).

Books:

Yes. Lots of them. I like stories of ordinary people in ordinary situations, and how they live their lives. The few screenplays I've worked on have been like that. I read a lot of non-fiction design and art reference books. I love magazines, but mostly design and art mags. Have no interest in fan mags. I should read fashion magazines, I suppose, but I'm not that much of a follower. I love my Levis 501s, a white t-shirt, and a great sweater, mostly.
