Nathan

I apologize again for all my shortcomings.

About Me

I'm an Evansville (Indiana) native now living and teaching in Fairburn, Georgia, outside of Atlanta. Professionally, I teach World History. I've also done some freelance Star Wars writing work for Dark Horse Comics and StarWars.com (after a fashion) and have self-published a novella, entitled Echoes. (I'm currently in the early writing stages of its sequel, Unity.)
I am a pretty active member of the .. audio community, particularly the Star Wars fan audio genre, where I have quite a few projects out there. I do all that for fun, though, not for profit.
I'm on MySpace to catch up with old friends that are now a long way from where I live, to meet some new non-insane people who are closer to where I live (well, relatively non-insane), and, apparently, to blog about inane things that don't fit elsewhere.
I end up running into a lot of former students on here, so let me just quickly say up front that I'm glad to catch up with folks to see how things are going, but it's unlikely that I'll keep many former students on my friends list, just so I can try to keep work life and non-work life separate. Nothing personal, just my own preference. So, don't get pissed if you suddenly disappear from the list and don't know why. That's why. heh (If you're a current student . . . Don't try. I'll feel bad for the few seconds it takes to hit "deny," then I'll get on with my day.)
..

My Interests

Audio production (I do a lot of podcasting and such), writing (finished my first full-length audiobook/novella in 2006 and am currently writing a sequel), science fiction and dramatic storytelling, etc.

I'd like to meet:

People who, y'know, don't suck. Sucky people need not apply.

Music:

A little of everything. As long as it actually SAYS something, I'll listen to whatever. Right now, my playlist is loaded up with mostly Papa Roach, Lifehouse, and random iTunes purchases. If I can sing it well, all the better. That's one of my big stress burners.

Movies:

Star Wars Trilogies; Back to the Future Trilogy; A Few Good Men; American History X; Frequency; Fight Club; 12 Angry Men; Rent; Scream Trilogy; Minority Report; and many more

Television:

Current series: Heroes; Studio 60; Battlestar Galactica and so on. Probably my favorite of all time would have to be 24, Aaron Sorkin's short-lived Sports Night, or Farscape.

Books:

Whatever works at the moment. Right now, I'm reading: David Simon's "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets;" one or the other of the Lando Calrissian Adventures (for a roundtable discussion later); and "Hamlet" (yes, that "Hamlet"). The last thing I finished was Brad Meltzer's "Star Wars on Trial."

Heroes:

In terms of creativity: Aaron Sorkin; George Lucas; etc. If he were real, I'd say John Crichton, but he's fictional so . . . not so much.

My Blog

Okay, so the title might make it sound like having sex with Will Smith's former rap partner (ugh), but it's actually a thought about . . . a drink. When I was younger, I was thrilled to be able to have...

Can You Name the Album?
