About Me

I have two 11 year-old kids. They are smarter and cuter than yours.
My name is Tommie, and I'm a radioholic.
(Hello Tommie)
Hello. Anyway, it started off as just a weekend thing, you know? Just a couple overnights...never any of the hard stuff, write a spec script here, produce a commercial there, cue up records and learn how to build carts. Hang out late nights, talk to people, read my Warren Ellis comics and eat chinese food.
Then it got to be an every night thing. I was finding myself doing it night after night after night, until 5:30AM, all week long. I'm sure some of you can relate. But I had no idea I had a problem. I was 19, my hair was long, and my girlfriend modeled underwear in local catalogues. Life was good. What else was there?
I was convinced I could give it up anytime, y'know? But before I knew it, radio had consumed me. I quit college. I went through women faster than Madonna did. I did whatever I had to do to get my fix, even if it meant pulling up all my roots and moving to a new city. And another. And another. And still, my appetite grew like a pile of discarded Milli Vanilli CDs.
Before I knew it, 16 sets of call letters and nearly two decades had gone by. A wife had come and gone. I'd worked in Oldies, in Top 40 where everyone sounds alike...I'd even experimented with alternative and country (and alternative country...). I'd even worked semi-regularly in a building I had never set foot in.
But it's just radio.
Don't judge me. I can quit anytime I want. My crap is here , here , and here .
(scratches at arm furiously, blinks rapidly several times and shudders)
- I have also never intentionally eaten mustard -
