I think there are basically two kinds of people in the world... Bullies and pushovers... pigs and pig masters... feelers and thinkers.... that's six but you get the point... The feelers are really superior to the thinkers but oddly enough we are almost always ruled by the thinkers... Friends? As you can see, I don't have many... but that's all right... what good are they? All they do is borrow money, steal your ideas... sleep with your girlfriends. I guess on occasion, sure, I've been a bully... and now and then I get pushed over too... Sometimes I have mixed feelings about living in LA. Guess I always felt more comfortable in Europe. Things use to be so simple, you know... quiet summers in the countryside, a little Satie, a hearty meal, discussing the infinite sorrows of life with bright, cultured, well dressed, European woman... Now I find myself eating alone in my car with the windows rolled up in a fast food parking lot. And what's sad is there's other people parked next to me... an obese woman making up for the modest salad she had earlier with co-workers ... a sweet, unhappy old man scratching off a lottery ticket... a pretty Mexican girl reading a thesaurus a bit to close to the pages... I can't deny it's all in a cinematic state of grace... They say it's not where you're AT but WHO you're with... and I suppose I'm with me, an abashed lone soldier fighting for the small moments that could perhaps remind me that I am alive and a apart of the great universal pulse despite all the various pauses and prolongations in a heart that differs both in frequency and severity from those of normally fluent individuals...
