The Sound Of Chartreuse

About Me

el is one of only a handful of genuinely original and important record labels in the history of popular music.el Records first began in 1985, set up by Mike Alway, releasing records by would-be-goods, bad dream fancy dress, king of luxembourg ,momus, shock headed peters, vic godard, marden hill, louis philippe, anthony adverse and many more. Now in 2005 el is releasing brand new albums as the sound Of Chartreuse by The Sixth Form and Continuous Electric Now. These albums showcase Mike Alway's use of the studio as a time machine, the real heart and conremporary conceptualistion of el beats on in these releases, these albums are absurdly underrated and absolutely genius. The albums released on el have changed the lives of those touched by them and transcended popular music to affect design and fashion and the cultural attitudes of a generation.el is more important now than it has ever been both with it's re-issues by artists such as Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Denny Doherty, The King's Singers, Les Baxter, Elizabeth Taylor & John Barry, Rita Lee, Simon Turner, Stu Phillips and many, many more as well as with the sound of chartreuse releases.
