Richard Morris - mastering engineer

About Me

Richard Morris is a musician and audio mastering engineer living and working on the Jersey Shore. Afteryears of learning the ropes from the best at NYC's Sterling Sound and Masterdisk studios, he is now booking sessions at Asbury Media , home of two-time GRAMMY award winning mastering engineer, Tom Ruff.
Richard spent five years at Sterling Sound, learning the craft of mastering from Greg Calbi, one of the mostrespected and sought-after engineers in the field. With Greg, he had a hand in the production of albums by Iron andWine, Norah Jones, Son Volt, Laura Cantrell, The Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr., Bad Brains, Branford Marsalis, andmore.
He then moved to the studio of trusted veteran engineer, Scott Hull, (John Mayer, Mercury Rev, Panic at The Disco,John Zorn). Soon after, Scott acquired Masterdisk, and Richard focused on offering Masterdisk's famed quality of service to enterprising artists, labels and producers.
Now he is managing his own production and mastering company, Richard Morris Music, and settling in nicely in Asbury Park. Please visit richardmorrismastering.com for booking information, more up-to-date news, and entries about great sessions, bands and gigs.
As a member of the eleven-piece M Shanghai StringBand , Richard produced and mixed the group's self-penned albums, "Up From The Ground Below", "From The Air", and"The Mapmaker's Daughter". He contributes to their famously engaging live performances in the old-time style arounda single microphone, playing some just-left-of-bluegrass mandolin and singing his heart out.
Richard mastered the songs featured on this page.
