SERVES ONLY CHEESE SAT 6-8PM WWW.ICONRADIO.CO.UK

About Me

We are Pete, Darren, Phil, Dan and Jeffs - collectively The Deli Counter a brand new Internet radio show based at Liverpool Uni. We are all students in Liverpool studying Politics, Maths, Engineering and Physics (dull or what?!) with one uniting love for cheese music (although Darren isn’t that keen actually which can be amusing!)You can hear us playing some class cheese tracks along with crazy cover versions and classic tv themes along with drunken fun and frolics every Saturday night from 6-8 PM (UK time of course!) on Icon Radio at www.iconradio.co.uk! We want to gear everyone up for a great Saturday night out so make us feel loved and join us! Or if you can’t make it (or even if you can really!) contact us, add us, leave a comment and lets spread some love about the Cheese! Each week we will be uploading a piece of music on this very page – so any suggestions for a song everyone will love or people might not have heard of? Tell us! Every week on the show we will be asking you to vote for a song based on a theme in a feature we are cunningly calling the Cheeseboard Choice – you can vote by emailing the show or contacting us through here – again any suggestions for themes most welcome! Also we want to know what you are doing every Saturday night – let us know so we can tell the world, shoutouts to the ones you love or hate are also welcome!ADD US AS AN MSN CONTACT TO CHAT TO US DURING THE SHOW - [email protected]CLICK BELOW TO LISTEN SAT 6PM!

My Interests

Dan: Reading, Sci-Fi, Walking (Guess which one studies Physics?) Pete: Politics, new music, travelling, radio, Laura Snoad, Tea and biscuits, JD and Coke etc. Darren: Hip Hop, Football, Computer games, drinking with mates Phil: Anything (well almost anything) to do with motorbikes will keep me amused and happy for hours :) Kayaking is great because even the most simple moves will impress people. And even if they don’t, you’re wearing a wetsuit, which is almost the same as lycra? Don’t go there actually…

I'd like to meet:

Pete: Andrew Marr, Alex Turner, Chris Moyles and many others! Phil: A proper comedian, someone like Billy Connolly in an attempt to improve my jokes. Because they do get a bit dire…. Darren: Eminem, Wayne Rooney, Eva Longoria Dan: Stephen Hawking, Matt Bellamy, Richard Dean Anderson

Music:

Phil: You can’t go wrong with a good bit of cheese, but I do like a bit of ska and punk rock as well. Oh and Of course a good few air guitar tracks. Everyone does it, the whole dancing round your room with the guitar… No? Well, maybe that’s just me then… Darren: Hip Hop, Arctic Monkeys, Killers, Slipknot Pete: Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics, Hope of the States, Indie Rock and plenty of cheese (I will provide a bigger list on request!) Dan: Deep Purple, Status Quo, Soulwax

Movies:

Dan: Monty Python and the search for the Holy Grail, Sin City Darren: Donnie Darko, Pulp Fiction – any film that forces you to use your imagination! Pete: Good Will Hunting, Anchorman, Cool Runnings – something that makes you think, fucks your mind up or is funny is for me! Phil: Mean Machine, Lock Stock …, Snatch - Basically anything else with a bit of war/action in it makes a good film for me.

Television:

Darren: Really into Lost – Not watched a lot since Uni. Pete: Anything newsy, comedic, thoughtful – oh and reality tv which I suppose doesn’t fit into any of my categories! Phil: Orange County Choppers on Discovery Channel. A series about a father and son business making custom motorbikes in America. Lots of arguments but lots of great bikes too :) That 70s Show when its on is good too… Dan: Stargate (SG1/Atlantis) {Once again his degree choice becomes obvious!}, Red Dwarf, Two Pints of Lager…

Books:

Pete:Anything political or journalistic, Biographies, Music books, Anything that takes me away from my world and transports me somewhere exciting – any ideas? Suggest me some reading! Darren: Harry Potter series, all Steven King books as well as other horror writers, religious mysteries like the Da Vinci code Dan: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, 1984, HRW – without it I’ll fail my degree (no idea what this book is!) Phil: Anything with a bit of war/fighting in it. And there’s bound to be a motorbike magazine of some description not too far away as well… (this boy and motorbikes!)

Heroes:

Dan: Richard Fennyman, Albert Einstein, Horatio Nelson (Now that’s just weird!) Pete: Andrew Marr, My Mum (Aah!), Charles Kennedy and probably others I cant remember! Phil: A bike racer called Barry Sheene once said “Don’t wait for your ship to come in, swim out and meet the bloody thing!” which I think sums up pretty much everything you need to do something well. And he was a great racer as well… Darren: Eminem – a genius – nobody else gets hero status
