Currently based in Chicago IL. Edsel was born and raised in several parts of Southern Florida.
On his 16th birthday, Edsel made the gutsy choice to drop out of high school and trade in traditional schooling for a self-education in the music business.
As the leader of his band Dope, Edsel has established himself as one of the most colorful and entertaining front-men in the game today.Dope released "Felons And Revolutionaties" in 1999 via EPIC Records and have sold more than a million albums worldwide. Relentless touring and 3 adiitional albums have combined to solidify the bands incredibly loyal fan-base.
Edsel is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on Dope’s 5th full length LP entitled “No Regrets" which will be out later this year on KOCH records.
Edsel has also been focusing his efforts on producing, writing, and developing several new artists in many different musical genres. His musical production interests include everything from Hard rock and metal, to country, hip-hop, punk, house, electronic, industrial, dance, and more. Most recently Edsel completed production on 2 new tracks for the Chicago based Metal band Dirge, who are currently exploding onto the Chicago Scene.
Edsels music can be heard on several video games including the recent Hot Wheels “Beat Thatâ€, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Wakeboarding Unleashed, and most recently Guitar Hero 3.
Dope songs have been featured in several television programs and used in several major motion pictures including Scream 3, The Fast and The Furious, and Edsels favorite, the new cult classic American Psycho.
Dope’s music can also consistently be heard as background music for a slew of the MTV reality shows and has been used as bumper music for several VH-1 lifestyle specials throughout the years.
Edsel is also a regular contributor of music used on ESPN, and has written theme songs for The X-Games, WWE, and The 2006 Stanley Cup Finals.
Its safe to say that asside from the music, Edsel is best known for his relentless dedication to his art and his dynamic personality which have combined to help his songs reach millions of people across the globe.
His sexually charged grooves, mixed with his clever yet simple lyrics and relentless primal aggression, have colided together to define the spirit of Dope for more than 10 years.
