About Me

From an early age living in the East New York section of Brooklyn, Starchild knew that music was something he was destined to do. He began by singing around the house, putting on shows for his parents. By the age of 8, he had performed at church talent shows and already recorded his first song. That was also when he began writing music. Like most kids, he drew his inspiration from Michael Jackson; but as he grew he became inspired by the likes of Brian McKnight, Jon B, and maybe his biggest inspiration, Lionel Richie. Upon reaching high school, he formed R&B group S.O.L.I.D., which became a local sensation. But, by the age of 16, he knew he had the talent to make it as a solo artist, but still remained with the group.Music however had created distance between the goals he had for himself and the goals his parents had aspired for him. Starchild then moved to Queens to live with his grandparents. Although it was hard on Starchild mentally, he credits the move to helping his writing tremendously. At the age of 17, he left South Shore High School for the Satellite Academy in Queens. It was here that he met his manager PBS, and began recording both as a solo artist and as a part S.O.L.I.D. He then took his talents to Diamond Cut Records where he produced and collaborated with artists, earning him a spot on famed New York DJ Kay Slay’s mixtape. After things did not work out with previous environments with different camps, Starchild broke from the rest in pursuit of a full time solo career. Now, at the age of 23, Starchild is doing it on his terms, alone. He is in this industry to fulfill his goal of bringing R&B music back to its essence. Using Lionel Richie as his inspiration as an artist who once was in a group but achieving great success as a solo artist, Starchild wants to make genuine music. He feels that “music doesn’t just make you feel one way, it has different emotionsâ€. The change he speaks of is making music that makes you love, feel loved, laugh, and make you cry. Starchild wants to journey into the heart of music, but into the mind of him.
