About Me

Born out of CambriaHeights-Queens, a determined Eric Morales sought out to pursue his child hood dream of becoming a well renowned DJ. His musical influences stemmed mainly from his grandmother who was focused on keeping her grandson on the right path. By the age of six, OnPoint was a rising musical prodigy. He played several instruments including the piano, violin, drums, and saxophone. He became aware of the Hip-Hop culture a few years later through his aunt and late uncle. His interest in Djaying sparked as he watched his aunts videos of DMC battles (World DJ competition) . OnPoint was fascinated by both the ability of each DJ to control the crowd via music and also be able to provide entertainment through the use of turntables.
As he studied the art of djing more closely, he was inspired to begin developing a djaying craft of his own. OnPoint received his first set of turntables for his 16th birthday. Three months later, he began djing parties in his backyard using speakers from his home stereo.
At 18, OnPoint furthered his djing skills into the mixtape circuit. He began creating exclusive blend tapes and sold them to friends and classmates at his high school as well as a few record stores on Jamaica Avenue. After averaging about 4-6 mixtapes a year for a few years, OnPoint decided to take a break from the mixtape scene to focus on promoting and djing his own parties. In 2001, He made his way back to the mixtape scene and made a prominent name for himself by developing instrumental CDs. With each instrumental CD he created a Is this what you want? sample that later became the OnPoint trademark. Not long after, many notable artists sought to use OnPoint instrumental CDs for freestyles. Among these artists whove used his instrumental CDs are 50 Cent and the G-Unit camp, Joe Buddens, Jae Millz, Cassidy, and D-block. The OnPoint Is this what you want? stamp has been used on various radio stations and BETs Mad Sports as well as other DJ mixtapes. After creating a brand name for himself, his techniques earned him the alias Mr. Is This What You Want?.
With his identifying mark in the streets and media, the entrepreneur has DJ'd across the country at an array of venues and has worked alongside various artists including Cassidy, Swizz Beatz, Joe Budden, Busta Rhymes, DMX, Nore, Freeway and Method Man. While continuing to create an addictive buzz for himself, Mr. Is This What You Want? builds his distribution and multimedia empire, Back Street Entertainment, and seeks to give the audience exactly what they want.
