I am Gromit's bitch.

About Me

Are you sure you want to know? First and foremost, I'm an artist. I don't paint. I make assemblages and collages from hair (the 30-inch-long stuff that I pull out of my brush and the short and curly stuff I pick off the bathroom floor), blood (don't worry, I only use my own), photographs, dog fur, fabric, paper, and junk I find on the street and in thrift stores. I also write essays and book reviews for Morbid Curiosity magazine. I have a boring day job in a cube farm, but I make the best of it by being a labor activist. I've been a shop steward, president and secretary of my union chapter. I derive great joy out of being a pain in the ass to upper management. I've been a vegetarian for 22 years. I don't own a car or a cell phone. I'm originally an east coast girl and I grew up loving the Yankees and Springsteen, and I'm blue-collar to the core. I have no tattoos and no piercings, but I like 'em on other people. I hate Wal-Mart, organized religion, business suits and Broadway show tunes. What else do you want to know?

My Interests

Art, my dog, politics, history, labor issues, my dog, photography, British motorcycles, weird old junk, my dog, Trash Film Orgy, old cemeteries, thrift stores. And my dog.

I'd like to meet:

My male equivalent! (Preferably, he will ride up to my door on a Vincent Black Shadow or a Norton Commando, but I'm not picky - a Triumph or BSA or Royal Enfield or Velocette or Ariel will do just fine.) Also union activists, flaming liberals, Bush-haters, artists, musicians, actors and writers. And people who don't make fun of my cowboy boots and don't mind hearing Buck Owens or George Jones when they come to my house.(If I don't already know you, please e-mail me before asking me to add you. Thanks.)

art shows!

I went to the opening reception for the State Fair art show with not one but two boys. How much hotter could I be, huh? Eh, it was just Chris and John, so it was more like the Three Stooges than a m...

I was out but now I'm in

Two days ago I got a message from the woman who runs the CA State Fair art show, asking me to contact her. Yesterday I e-mailed her: "You probably want to tell me you lost my slides. (All three of my ...

Don't leave me! I need what you've got!

Gloom and doom...I'm being cut off from my addiction, my weekly vice - my neighborhood thrift store is moving! I've been going to this place nearly every Saturday for the last five years. Sure, there ...

sold some art, drooled over some boys

It was a busy, busy weekend. Saturday morning I picked up my artwork from a show I had two weeks ago. I sold three pieces but I still don't know which ones because I haven't had time to look in the b...

An abandoned project comes back to haunt me.

Today Homes and I went to a yard sale. I poked around in a box and found an old Airequipt tray loaded with slides. "How much for the slides?" I asked. "You can have all of them," the guy said. Fre...

Finish one piece and start another.

The show in the VanGo last Saturday went well - I sold three pieces. Yay! I'm going to pick up the remainder later this week. I might enter a few of them in other shows over the summer. I miss...

finally working again

I'm working like mad on the ass project. I trimmed all the lifts, finalized the pattern and glued them to the backing fabric. I love this piece. From a distance it looks like a kaleidoscopic abstra...

grrrrrrrr

I've had a headache for days and days and days. It's spring and everything's blooming and I'm allergic to it all. It doesn't help that I've been inhaling paint fumes. To top it off, the contents of...

No Nacogdoches this year

I got my slides back from Texas National today, along with a polite rejection letter. Grrr. I'm getting sick of collecting rejection slips. I need to find another show to enter but there don't seem...

Eat, sleep, make art. Repeat. Yeah, that's what I want.

A week off. That's all I need. Well, I'd take more, but I'd be happy with just one week to do nothing but work on art. It seems like I always have to run an errand or do some chore after work. By ...
