The Huntsman was appointed to his position when he came upon the King's father fighting off a great bear. The hunter
took down the massive beast with a single bolt from his bow. In appreciation the King named him the Huntsman of
Citadel Schultzland. The Huntsman's skill at tracking prey was unmatched and the mightiest beasts fell to his crossbow. Few
in the kingdom did not get chills when he went out with his hounds that looked far too like wolves for the people's comfort.
When
the curse of the Gauntlet overtook the Schultzland Kingdom; the Huntsman did not suffer the ill effects that had stricken
his fellow citizens. This arose anger in the town and soon turned violent. After being attacked by a mob of townsfolk,
his secret was revealed; he was a werewolf! The mob was calmed when the King stepped in and assured
his people that the Huntsman was still loyal to the crown. After that day the King started calling the Huntsman "Wolfy" and
now all in the Kingdom know him by that name. Wolfy was born a werewolf (or as he calls himself varg-úlfr) but little
else is know of his past. Sir Karnage has suspicions that Wolfy came from the North for when the Huntsman spoke
in his native tongue it sounded similar to the language of the northern warriors the knight had fought along side with in
days past. The monks at the monastery believe that he is older then the most ancient of beings for he has spoken
first hand of events long past. Since Wolfy has shown no visible signs of aging during his years in the Kingdom
the monks may very well be right. Those who know him best, will tell you he has a strong hatred of vampires and
their minions. The reason for his abhorrence is unknown but most suspect that he was greatly wronged by the undead
in the past.
While the Huntsman will not say one way or the other; it appears that, unlike cursed lycanthropes,
he suffers no visible ill effects from silver; nor is he controled by the phases of the moon. Any damage to him is healed
as quickly as the weapon is drawn back and he has proved immune to any magic used against him. Despite his natural resistance
to the foul magic of The Gauntlet, Wolfy is bound to the cursed kingdom as all the rest. He gave his word to stand
by the King and his honor will not allow him to leave until the curse is lifted. That oath was greatly strained
when his liege became a vampire himself. With the emergence of the Gauntlet's curse his job as a hunter was no
longer needed, because he had earned Beast, the Barbarian Lord's respect, he acts as the King's emissary to the barbarian
tribe and keeps the Knights and Barbarians from each others throats. The Huntsman's skill in stealth
also has him serving as a spy for the King when the need arises. It is suspected that he took the guise of the
Master Piper himself to learn of the piper clan's intentions. Wolfy's time now is mostly spent searching for the
"Second Gauntlet" which he believes will free the kingdom from it's curse but he returns to the Gauntlet to hunt down and
slay any adventurer foolish enough to threaten the kingdom.
Be warned adventure, if the Huntsman is on your trail there
is no hope for you. When you hear his growl it will already be too late.
