Songwriter, Shawna Christine Mason is of Celtic/Italian background. She was born November 16 1970 in Costa Mesa Ca. Her mother's side of the family came over from Tennessee in the 60's. Born to teenage hippies music has always had a strong influence on her. She was at a Led Zeppelin concert while her mother was still pregnant with her. When she met Robert Plant in Palm Springs he said "It must have been summer of 70 " "That was our last concert" At the age of 5 she was playing piano, flute, and violin. In junior high school she wanted to play the drums in music class. Her music teacher told her that "Only boys can play drums" Why don't you play the radio?" She never returned to music class. Poetry had a beat, but only in her head. She never put anything in writing until ten years ago. She lost her best friend to a drunk driver in the line of duty. She wrote a poem called Supernova. "In loving memory of Claire Nicole Connelly" She sent the poem to VH1 for a critique, to enter in their poetry contest. They suggested that she change the structure into lyrics, and give it a basic melody line. She turned the poem into lyrics for a song. It came out beautiful. She sent the demo to Brandon Hills Music Publishing. When Marsha Brown heard the song she signed her immediately. Sony Music says "Supernova is one of the best well written songs that they have heard in a long time." They are pitching Supernova to major artists like Faith Hill. Marsha Brown is now starting her own record label. Shawna is also taking singing lessons. Trying to sing the blues. She went back, and forth between piano, and guitar for years. She ended up writing her own original guitar melodies for her new songs coming out. The next song coming out is called Wild, Blue Butterfly. It is about the laws of nature.
