*** Bio: D.ShonD.Shon (pronounced Dee-Shawn) is a Canadian R&B/Pop Performer/Song Writer from Toronto, ON. Performing since the young age of 7 years old, he’s had a wealth of performing experience. He grew up singing in church choirs, and was previously a member of two R&B vocal groups and a Pop music cover band.In the pursuit of additional performing opportunities he is no stranger to the grind of auditions.
In 2002 D.Shon took part in a grueling audition process for Global TV’s ’Docudrama’ "Popstars: Boy Meets Girl", the second season of the popular Canadian reality television series, which set out to form a Co-Ed pop group. He went on to become a Top 10 finalist(evenly split between male & female performers), as one of 5 males for the group’s final selection. Although, he was not included in the final group(Velvet Empire) member line up, the show garnered him valuable television exposure and opened doors to other opportunites. In 2003, beating out 300 other contestants he won the title of the first(and currently the only) Flow 93.5 FM "Urban Idol".Currently he can be seen appearing with his longtime friend Jully Black(www.jullyblack.com) supporting her live performances. He is also featured on her Universal Music debut album "This Is Me", and MSN/Sympatico’s "Jully Black: Live @ The Orange Lounge" Sessions.Live performance has always been one his major passions. D.Shon has performed across Canada, as well as dates in the U.S. and Caribbean. Performing with Jully Black has given him the opportunity to tour with The Black Eyed Peas(2005 Monkey Business Tour), Bedouin Soundclash(2006 Solo Mobile College Tour), as well as opening for Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Etta James.He is a full ACTRA member(Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists), and has made several network Television appearances, which includes Fashion Television’s 2003 "Fashion Cares" Special(City TV), 2004 NHL Awards(CBC), 2004 & 2005 Canadian Urban Music Awards(CBC & Sun TV), eTalk Playlist(CTV), The Toronto Show(Toronto 1/Sun TV) and more recently, The Music is the Message: Jully Black(Much Music).D.Shon has had a varied background in the Toronto entertainment scene. In addition to being a talented singer/performer, he has previously been a Hip-Hop dancer for the Toronto’s renowned "Do Dat Entertainment" Dance Troupe headed by choreographer extraordinaire, Luther Brown. As well as a freelance entertainment writer for Watch Magazine(Toronto) and Mic Check Magazine(Toronto). He has also coordinated and stage managed Jully Black’s "Glow Show"(Toronto) Ladies showcase.D.Shon is currently working on material for his own solo project, and is anticipating a single release in the near future!
