Jesper: Music is a passion, an innate urge to explore and challenge every last angle and style, and to express yourself honest and without compromise. Our expression is honest. We express real emotion through melody, schreeching guitar solos, and the real yearning and heartbreak in our singer’s beautiful vocals. We carry a rock hard rhythm section that provides heavy fills and crispy basslines to serve as backdrop for the drama of the songs.
Johan: It’s about the ride for me. It’s about expressing all the big emotions that life throws you into. I have always been driven by a great longing for big emotional highs and I’ve always embraced the lows equally. There is a certain restlessness to my character, but I have always found peace and grounding in songwriting. I suppose my songs are about human relations. About unconditional love, for a girl, a friend or family, about chasing your dreams and being your own hero. There is an “us against the world feel” to most of my writing. I have always felt on the outside of everything so it’s always been important for me to create my own world and form my own gangs with like-minded souls.
Troels: The real kick is that moment in the rehearsal room, when a new song takes shape, when all of a sudden it goes from just a bunch of guys jamming out ideas in a small room to this great geenie-like plasma of different sounds and emotions that exceeds the sum of it’s parts. Of course there are golden moments on stage as well, when everything gels and audience is right up there with you, and I’d be lying if I said that there is a big element of that desire to perform for people, but more than anything, for me ,it’s about the alchemy and magic of taking part in creating a new piece of music
L.P.: It’s rock’n roll, but to me it’s important that the groove is there and that things are musically in order. We never do anything predictable, the so-so songs get weeded out without mercy along the way. In JOHNNY LUGER the expression is paramount, but attention to detail is imperative, you can get away with playing almost anything as long as you play tight..
