Into The Fire...

About Me

Hey I'm Cory Weir, lead guitarist of Baptism By Fire . After quitting Beyond Blood (born from the ashes of Resurrect), I met up with some sick fuckers who where into the same shit I was and it just clicked. I jam at the Dungeon now and it ain't exactly pretty but I guess its home. Anyways, its nice to be back on the scene after a few months getting this shit up and running! I live for making people bang their fucking heads and drool over ridiculous solo's. I love the world that music takes me too, the bright lights and the stage below me as everything fades away and becomes completely insignifigant.
Music is basically my life...and existance would be pretty bleak and meaningless without it aside from my family and friends, most of whom share my passion for music as well. I'm interested in a lot of random shit aside from music though.I'm really into philosphy, be it Eastern or Western, as long as its stimulating and interesting. Theres nothing quite like reading a book and having everything you thought you knew about the world or life, turned completely upside down, or being shown the world in a whole new light. I suppose I just like to learn and be challenged...in one way or another. I enjoy constantly learning new ideas and I love meeting new people with different ideas.
...But when push comes to shove... I'm just your typical heavy metal playin', whiskey drinkin', song writin' fucker that likes to have a good time. I call shit as I see it and I wouldn't change who I am for anything. I don't take shit from anyone and I respect those who deserve it. Pretty open minded as long as people are reasonable. I'm loyal to the end, and very very vengeful, so stay on my good side if you can and don't ever fuck with my bro's or my girls.
When it comes to music, I'm all over the map. Obviously my true passion is heavy metal, because I can take everything I know from every style of music I've learnt and fuse them all together, but I love so many other styles. I started out learning spanish classical music at first and became good at that. Its still my fundamental building block on most of my writing. After that I moved on to blues, which is probably equally important in my playing. Onward down the line, I moved onto jazz and thats when shit got crazy. That opened up a lot of doors for me, with those three styles my fretboard basically opened up to me entirely, which meant there was always somewhere to go, no more fishing around for notes.
Continuing on down the line, I started studying a lot of classical and neo-classical styles and kind of developed my own feel for those, and threw in some middle-eastern scales to mix it up. My biggest influences and focus of study right now are Steve Vai and Michael Angelo Batio.

I'd like to meet:

If I could meet one person it would be Dime, cause I never got the chance to meet my most inspirational guitar influence. If there were a few other people I could meet, I would meet Randy Rhoads, EVH, SRV, etc...but I suppose what I should be doing is listing qualities of people who aren't too famous or dead and could actually be my friend.
Basically, I get along with everyone unless they're too annoying to chill with or they give me a reason not to like them lol. Pretty simple way to do shit, works fine for me, and I sure as fuck dont need to complicate my life any more than it already is. So whether you're into heavy metal or hip-hop or whatever I'll probably get along with you if you're a chillin' person. *exluding scene kids*, cause well... scene kids are pretty gay...come on now, those pants looked bad on your sister, what makes you think you could pull it off? The girls aren't always so bad, but goddamn man, there ain't room for balls in a size 4 pair of jeans....think it through...
