Influences: Greetings traveller,
Growing up in monastery's around the outskirts of Antarctica proved a musically challenging environment, as well as a cold one, especially when caught with "outskirts": Brrrrrr. Still, whenever he could, Martin "crying, talking, sleeping, walking" Skarendahl would sneak out a one-man band (a most versatile instrument) and we'd all write songs of, through, on and by him. Sadly our years of scribing resulted in us writing our debut double album. "Hey up there narrator", I hear you think, "I thought you said "sadly"; what's so sad about writing a double album?" Well I'm glad you asked friend, I truly am. The sad thing was that the fruit of our musical loins turned out to be, note for note, The White Album by the Beatles, by complete coincidence. Amazing considering none of us could play an instrument - some would say we still can't, but those would be "unkind" people. We don't like unkind people.
Now a loose fitting assemblage of verse, an ode, if you will, to songs that we have five words for: "Mmmm", "mmmm", "mmmm", "mmmm" and "mmmm".
"Don't think of modern music as a bore
come with us and look for the CURE.
In a den of gambling vice you'd do well to pick-up hot tips, whereas we sing odds-on to win with our "FLAMING LIPS".
If you need a light, we've got a lamp,
even if we were homeless we'd be SUPERTRAMP'S".
In the order of influences with numbers in the title first: 1984, Catch-22, Lord of the Flies, Brave New World, Ren & Stimpy, Garth Merenghi's Dark Places, Anchorman, M is for Murder, Metropolis and Arthur Miller, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Sufjan Stevens, Luke Warm and The Conflicting Opinions.
Sounds Like: XTC, Supertramp, Talking Heads, Sinita and a set of rusty spoons cling-clanging their way through the britches of Jeff Buckley.
