Christy Carlson Romano
A true triple threat, Christy Carlson Romano has starred on Broadway, appeared in feature films, written a book and starred in two Emmy nominated series and all by the age of 21.
Romano has been working non-stop since the age of six, studying acting, dance, and voice, and trained in several sports. She also studied at The School of American Ballet and a graduate of The Professional Children’s School in New York. She soon started appearing in commercials, and quickly took America by storm.
This young dynamo received Emmy nominations in 2005 for her Best Performance in an Animated Series for the title role in “Kim Possible.†This animation series was action packed show about a normal high school girl, who spends her spare time saving the world from evil villains. Rolling Stone name her one of the “Five On the Rise†and was included in Variety’s “Top 10 Talents to Watch.â€
Romano is also known for her role as Disney’s darling in “Even Stevens†and “The Stevens Get Even†as well as ratings hit, “Cadet Kelly.†She also starred in several major TV guest spots and ABC Family’s “Campus Confidential†and “The Cutting Edge 2.†On the big screen, Romano worked with Woody Allen in “Everyone Says I Love You†Sony’s critically acclaimed “Henry’s Fool†with Parker Posey and “Looking for an Echo.â€
While starring on Broadway as Belle “Beauty and the Beast,†her stay was extended and the houses capacity was at 99% for seven months. Christy has done a great deal of theater including Tony nominated “Parade,†“The Sound of Music†& “Will Rogers Follies.â€
This beauty was honored by Connecticut’s Speaker of the House and her hometown Mayor, who awarded her the Key to the City and declared February 22nd, Christy Carlson Romano Day. She’s also the first recipient of the “Connecticut Finest Award†for being a positive role model. It’s important to Romano to be a positive role model, and is consistent in her efforts.
Using the youth of America as inspiration, this young phenom released her first solo album under Disney Records, “Christy Carlson Romano Greatest Movie and TV Hits†and toured around the world, performing for sold out audiences. Her voice can be heard on several soundtracks including “Everyone Says I Love You†and has performed with the Kansas City Symphony and at the NBA All Star Game at Madison Square Garden.
Talented and creative, she penned a novel, “Grace’s Turn†for Random House, which received accolades by the New York Public Library as the 2007 Teenage book of the year. Romano brought to life several books on tape with Hyperion Books and is the voice of “Scene It†Deluxe Disney Style. She also lent her voice to such campaigns as Platex, Clearasil, Bratz and Winx. Romano also designed a line of dog clothes called Chewy with the proceeds going to the Humane Society and a fragrance named “Role Model.â€
Ambitious and bright, Romano attended Barnard College at Columbia University as a political science major, with an emphasis on human rights. She spent a summer being a Congressional Intern for Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd and herself, has political aspirations.
Next you can see Romano in the animation feature “Legends of Secret Pass†opposite Michael Chiklis and Frankie Munez as well as indy’s,“Taking 5†and “Movin Inâ€. She just wrapped a guest star role in MTV’s original series “Kaya†and is now filming “Cutting Edge 3†where she is reviving her role as Jackie Dorsey, returning as a reputable coach with the right moves.
Romano enjoys studying at Beverly Hills Playhouse, camping, yoga, hiking and loves to cook. She dedicates significant time to charitable efforts including being a member of the Hollywood Task Force at the St Judes’s Children’s Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Humane Society, and is a supporter of her alma mater The Professional Children’s School Fund.
