Born a lil while agao.To PEACHES & FUZZY.Small little trife housing project ,But tight knit villiage,called Potters Crossing,Edison,N.J.Started playing the drums at the age of 4 listening to my father play and Most prolificly sitting on my Uncle Tiki's knee up at my Aunt Murrs House ,Up On Da Hill.We used to have to come down off Da Hill before it got dark,Ya Dig.. Relocated to Plainfield NJ at age of 11,Where and when I moved into my adopted Familys Basement with the rest of the instruments,Over on Monroe Ave.Ma and Pop Shider had a bunch of other boys outside of Garry and Yeah we tight.Awww MAN FUNK DAT.!! Yall watch the Pilot....ITS BOUT TO B A REALLITY SHOW ON ALL OF US 2ND GEN. P-FUNK THE LIVING NUTS.........Nowell has been playing drums since the age of four.Played his first professional Gig at age 12."Every summer as a kid ,My family would return to Pine Grove Dude Ranch in Upstate New York,I somehow had befriended the guys in the House band there and Eventually they Worked me into there Set on a nightly basis".Unfortunate or fortunate as it was I was drawn to the streets in a very strong and Powerful way.As a result I have experienced most if not all of the Detriments that the street has to offer.Around or about the age of 24 I decided to resign from the neighborhood corners and get back to the Thing I Have always loved most in Life, Music....... This Journey has been bitter sweet like most things in my Life,Ive discovered new Music ,New Friends,New struggles and New Pains.Being able to sit and write Music with the People that I have admired most in my Life ,George Clinton, Bernie Worrell, Gary Shider I mean that in itself has been enough for me to be forever grateful for .However I cannot negate the Fact that I havent been afforded the opportunity to work with One of the People that I have admired most and really is the Person that has influenced me to Really be about the Lifestyle of Music the most,My Dad. So bitter sweet It has been.However the person who Ive learned the Most from,Musically I would have to say has been my Dear Uncle, Bernie Worrell.I just cant say enough about him, His excellence is Unmatched as a Musician.Ive been around some really Great Artist and Musicians to say the Least.However Bernie is Just someone that You wont encounter at every Musical experience in Life.Even though hes not Per Say a Drummer and Im not in any sense of the Word a Keyboardist.He Just oozes Music in evry knote nomatter what your Instrument of choice may be.You can learn something about it with Bernie.I cherrish the time I spent Both as a Lead Vocalist along with DAWN SYLVA and sharing the drum chair with GABE GONZALEZ while touring with The Great one,BERNIE WORRELL & THE WOO WARRIORS.Genuise,For lack of a better word.Working with ROBERT"KOOL" and his younger song writing guru brother ,KHALIS BELL.Thats Kool and his brother of the Legendary KOOL AND THE GANG.That Experience ,Was key and the experience that made Nowell beleive in having a musical Standard.To see the complete other side of the FUNK spectrum,This gave Nowell the Resolve to hold a standard for The Genre of FUNK.Knowing that in general Most folks dont give FUNK the respect and attention thats given to other genres.Everything about KOOL is large,Thats the Mindset that he taught Nowell to bring to everything he does.BIG THINGS: Nowell and FUNK-KIN are featured on the Kool & The Gang,Compilation C.D. Entitled Gangland.The song is Titled "Funk Done Gone Hip Hop". Nowell most recently has focused his Attention and Musical endevours to the World of FUNK/ROCK music."I have found so much similarities and Commonality in FUNKADELIC and ZEPPLIN,in bands like THE BEATLES who happens to be one of Nowell's all time favorite Rock Bands,Mars Volta,Queen, The Police,Led Zepplin ..Jimmy Hendrix,Bob Marley,Howlin Wolfe,Count Bassie,James Brown and one of my Favorite Bands of All time,The Red Hot Chili Peppers.My long friendship with the husband and wife Rock N Roll duo,CHRONIC BLISS,Which features me on the track playing here,"TELL ME",On both Vocals and Drums.This is a couple thats lent me both wonderful working experiences,whether we where hidden up in the beauiful Hamptons recording or tucked away in their Beautiful Midtown Manhatten apt.Enjoying 420 time,and writing or recording new music.Marianne and Jeff Perback have a place in my heart as Friends ,Artist and truly amazing Musicians and parents of my Ultra Funky Nephew. I have been fortunate and blessed enough to have developed and cherrish Freindships with Musicians from all Genres.I must say Im most Proud and protective of my Unconditional friendship with FLEA of the Chili Peppers.This is a freidship that came about by sheer chance and One that has grown and has allotted Me to see Rock N Roll Royalty in a way most people never get to see it and in a way That I hold in very high regaurd .Most importantly I have the utmost respect and dignity of The legacy My Funky Family has built.There is no confirmation needed,Without a doubt I Know this to be true "P-FUNK has been a major catlyst in my Life & Had it not been for the great Music and Musicians Ive grown up with and spent my life around, I never would have Enjoyed the great success of making the music that Rocks My Life and the coming together of so many gifted and talented people here at MySpace.com .I feel their is so much more on the way for music in the years to come.
