Phoenix Fire Down (R.I.P.)

The phoenix has landed, but it's ashes are arising

About Me

Phoenix Fire Down was started in the summer of 2003 by members Tommy his brother Tim, and childhood friend Troy. The three had played in previous punk and alt rock bands before, but the formation of PFD was with no pre set agenda regarding any particular "genre", the only goal being to simply make music that they would enjoy listening to. After writing and scrapping dozens of songs the band finally began to settle in to a hardcore influenced alt-rock direction, drawing influences from groups such as Thursday, Blindside, Thrice, Beloved and Underoath, as well as metal bands such as Killswitch Engage and As I lay Dying.Oringinally the band consisted of just the three initial members, with Troy on Vox and guitar, Tommy on bass, and Tim on drums, but eventually the trio decided that they would be better off finding a bass player and having Tommy move to lead guitar. The bass slot would be in constant rotation throughout the bands 3 and a half year career, with Tommy playing bass on all the recordings.Though they gigged relatively frequently, due to the diverse nature of the band's influences, they had a difficult time finding their place in the Montreal punk and hardcore scene, which was dominated by generic metalcore and screamo bands at the time. The band played their last show in the winter of 2007 after Tommy announced that he was relocating to Vancouver, looking for a fresh start. He has since been gigging heavily, playing bass for his new band Fighting For Ithaca, who despite being a very young band have already been garnering industry attention. He also contributes live guitar for Vancouver based singer/songwriter Sabrina Korva.Timmy and Troy have plans for a new project in the works. Tim has also started a midi-power metal project called Metalloid Staircase and a Nintendo inspired series of compostions released under the name NINTENDOR, while Troy continues to record as a singer/songwriter under the moniker Shades of Grace.PFD thanks anyone that ever came out to a show or supported the band in any way. We hope you check out and enjoy what we're doing now! mspmb allowScriptAccess="never" style='display:none' src='' AUTOSTART='True' LOOP='1'
