We're interested in good books, films (no porn, and absolutely no horror -- why do you watch people get murdered for sport? Is that fun for you? We think that's weird. Remember, you are whatever you consume...), music, art and television. That sounds simple, but it means is that we are interested in warring against the garbage that masquerades as cultural offerings. Ideas hide in music, books, films, fashion, art and television. We cannot sit idly by and play dumb and we won't. The world is run by the ideas of dead men and the world has been impacted by the negative ideology of hip hop. Hollywood has succumbed to the proliferation of necromancy (look it up) and we know pop literature has succumbed to necromancy. One only needs to thank JK Rowling and her necromancy literature known as Harry Potter. And all you have sat by hooking up, partying, drinking, playing video games, eating junk food, buying rims, joining gangs, getting abortions, breast implants, tattoos and body piercings. And all the while, the world is slipping out of control as we worship the absence of god. Now that might okay with you, but not for us. We can see something is wrong and we're here to discuss what is going on in popular culture because those ideas impact the world. Welcome to the war.Intangible but Attainable -- in the near future you will have to decide.
We'd like to meet all of you. We especially want to hear from artists and musicians on any level. We want to let them know how much they inspire us and help us make it through the day. We want to to meet and share ideas on all entertainment mediums--art, music, literature, film and television. The day of the album is long gone, we mourn it and celebrate the Ipod and its innovative mechanism for carrying our treasured music collections in our hip pocket. We celebrate those musicians who have taken their name and branded it--commodifying pop music like never before. Never before have singers and songwriters had access to the world from their laptops. And the means of delivering film will change as well. Going to the cinema in a multi-plex has got to change to keep up with the times. The delivery of literature through e-books still has to change, it's not as exciting as the distribution of music via the Ipod. All hell has broken loose and we the consumer stand to benefit. The power to produce, distribute and create is almost infinite. We look forward to talking with you and sharing your news and stories. Thanks in advance for adding us.
There is a revolution going on in music that is so subtle that you may have missed it--Hip Hop has run its course having destroyed the industry by hindering the development of self-contained groups. With few exceptions there are no black musicians in popular music. I am not including jazz, or gospel music. So ruined is the industry that there are few record store chains. Most consumers opting to buy their music via the internet. Now you may be offended to learn that Hip Hop has played a large role in the destruction of the music business, but imagine an industry which prides itself on music coddling a genre where there is no music. Imagine it. Is there any black music worth buying today? Not really. Overpriced and lacking quality, black music is all but dead. On the other hand, rock, pop, emo, and the like have bright new stars--bands who play instruments and even write their own songs. Real songs. The industry denies the popularity of dance music as if it were a bastardized form of music. Most gospel music artists--the black ones--co-opt the world's sound to praise their lord. Kirk Franklin's hits come right out of the world. Kirk, come ye out the world...and make some music. All that talking makes my flesh crawl--cause it's so carnal. Little inspiration in most of it. But hope springs eternal and the revolution will be televised and blogged as the world's biggest rappers go down one by one and with their fall will rise new sounds. The ones the world awaits. I can't wait.
The film industry is going through a dark, dark period where the horror genre pretends to be art. Hollywood was never intended for this--unpretentious films that glorify killing. I'm ready for life after "The Hostel" and "Saw". So writers, please come up with something new, sequels are starting to chap my butt. No wonder there are no new movie stars, there are no new movies. There hasn't been anything original in decades.
Television is suffering from a lack of diverse ideas. Reality programming has killed all creativity. The networks don't even give a sitcom time to develop--ask Heather Graham. Reality programming is so out of control that the day is not far off when there will be a program where the game will be to kill someone -- oh, wait, that happens every week by people who've filled up on porn and horror. Time out for reality and time for just quality written programs. This season there will be an hour long drama featuring Latinos on network television in prime time. And yet there is no hour long drama featuring blacks on network television. Sadly, Hollywood's love affair with darkness continues as another tired vampire tale comes to the small screen. Is everyone in LA strung out on necromancy? What drugs are writers doing to come up with these ideas? A whole lot of folks done sold their soul I see. For all the damned folks who call themselves writers, the public is still craving something to watch in the evening. Ghosts, psychics, vampires--the quest for the real supernatural continues and Hollywood can't provide it. But the quest for the supernatural will be satisfied, but not by Jennifer Love Hewitt. If there's anything to be learned for a ghost, I'll get it from the Holy Ghost.
We haven't found a whole lot to read these days. But we have found is from the world of Non-fiction. There's an explosion in urban literature. Where are the film adaptations of these books? Oh, wait, we don't need any more thug love dramas.
Today's heroes are young people who are facing peer pressures like never before and surviving it all. They are those youth who have the courage to say "We don't want to be strippers and we won't dress like one; we won't date boys whose pants droop; we don't date boys who wear cornrolls; we won't date girls who have children out of wedlock, we won't join gangs, we will got to school, we will read books, we will pursue our destiny and purpose. This is a dream for a generation that we have--that young people can see life outside of the norms of hip hop which have young males either dead or in jail; and young women fat and mean and rude and made bitter by their incessant fornication.
