About Me

Cloud is a handsome pale Palomino stallion who resides in the Pryor Mountains located in Montana. He runs among other wild horses. He was first introduced to us when he was just a newborn colt thanks to filmmaker, Ginger Kathrens. At that time, Ms. Kathrens was filming a documentary for PBS on wild horses when Cloud came to her. She filmed the first of documentary "Cloud: Wild Stallion of The Rockies" which premiered on PBS as part of it's Nature series on November 4, 2001. This documentary shows us the first few years of Cloud's life. She followed up with a second documentary titled "Cloud's Legacy: The Wild Stallion Returns" continuing on with Cloud's life journey. There is nothing more amazing and breathtaking than seeing this majestic symbol of freedom in the natural habitat he calls home and bringing to us all the spirit of the west.
In "Cloud: Wild Stallion of The Rockies" Ms. Katherns beings chronicling Cloud's life as a newborn. We see him grow from colt to "teenager" playing and living as wild horse. All this time, Cloud and the herd are surviving the unpredicitable weather and as well as forces of nature and human.
In "Cloud's Legacy: The Wild Stallion Returns" we follow Cloud as he is now a bachlor and attempting to become a band stallion. He soon wins a mare and begins his own family. As he leads his little family and herd along, he will have to out last the cold winters, fires blazing as well as the goverment round-ups that threaten the wild horses.
The Cloud Foundation
The Cloud Foundation is based in Colorado and is a non-profit corporation. Ginger Kathrens’ began the Foundation not only to help Cloud’s herd, but other wild horses in the West. The Cloud Foundation is dedicated to preventing the extinction of Cloud’s herd through education, media events and programming, and public involvement. The Foundation is also determined to protect other wild horse herds on public lands, especially isolated herds with unique characteristics and historical significance. It is unfortunate that so many of America's wild horses are being rounded up and taken away from their freedom.

**I think it was pure coincidence and fate that I happen to have caught Cloud's story on PBS two years ago. Since then it has changed my life dramatically and my obsession with horses has only grown and branched out into other directions. Before seeing the documentary, I wasn't aware that wild horses were in as much danger as they are in these days. Also, in researching on saving wild horses, I found that our horses, American horses, are being shipped and slaughtered for human consumption! Therefore, this page is not about me, rather, I dedicate this page to Cloud and wild horses everywhere. With everyone's help and getting the word out we can bring awareness to others in the world in the hopes of helping to save America's horses. Let's keep this regal symbol of America running free.**
