-David Merrill thought Harry would never find out that he had rolled over on him for a lighter sentence. What David didn't know was that while they were on the run Harry read every article about the two since their dramatic escape. The News Media especially in 1902 was completely dumb for anything exciting and adventurous. The Old west was becoming a thing of the past and the first automobiles were making their way into the Northwestern landscapes.
- Outlaws were only legends that children read about in penny books. So naturally when Tracy and Merrill shot their way out of the Salem Penitentiary and escaped on foot the entire nation was captivated. The Papers printed anything they could get their hands on, including the fact that David Merrill had planned to turn on harry for a five year lean on his sentence.
-Merrill's body was found in a thick wooded area in July 1902, about a month after the escape after an alleged "duel to the Death", a ten pace stand-off
...But his spirit lived on and he became a walking zombie. A restless void...and he started a band as well. Eager to finish Harry Tracy off in any way possible.
