About Me

i've been on myspace a long time now, almost since it's inception. i've changed quite a bit, so it's time to update this. i used to have a wonderfully descriptive and charming, "about me" written here. but, that was a few years back. i have since come to the enlightened conclusion, that it really doesn't matter. the ego? it changes over time, so quickly. we aren't the same person, from one day to the next. we change. and change. and our ego's, they aren't important. not a bit. so why tell you about my ego? it isn't important to me, why should it be important to you? here, watch this, this is important, i think about it a lot. think about this next time you go shopping: the story of stuff~ ..

I'd like to meet:

in honor of george carlin's passing, and b/c this comforts me greatly when i sometimes forget about our place in the grand cosmic scheme, this is generally a very wise a great truth about what our role on planet earth if we take our selves to seriously.I am very liberal and unorthodox in my views. I'm of the opinion that our society does not function in a healthy manner any more, and we should use our intelligence to create a more caring, loving and just society. Most people seem content to just continue shopping though. I'm not saying I only want to meet people that share my views, just people who will tolerate them. :o)http://www.freepress.net/FOR ALL WE BITCH ABOUT IN THE WORLD.... TRY TO REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS IS SAYING:Interesting facts someone passed on to me.If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:There would be:57 Asians 21 Europeans 14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south 8 Africans52 would be female 48 would be male70 would be non-white 30 would be white70 would be non-Christian 30 would be Christian89 would be heterosexual 11 would be homosexual6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6 would be from the United States.80 would live in substandard housing 70 would be unable to read 50 would suffer from malnutrition 1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth 1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education 1 would own a computerWhen one considers our world from such a compressed perspective, the need for acceptance, understanding and education becomes glaringly apparent. The following points are also something else to ponder...If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation... you are ahead of 500 million people in the world. If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death... you are more blessed than three billion people in the world. If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep... you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace ... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If your parents are still alive and still married...you are very rare.If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all It is so hard to change the world, while we are busy saving dogs and cats in the USA 3/4 of the world is trying to just survive. Not that saving dogs and cats is not important, i love all animals, but the whole Earth is important too.

Music:

first off, let me list the music that made me, well, me. my first memories are like any childs', children's songs. then there were my parents records. my sister and i gravitated towards the old beatles, beach boys, and bobby vinton records, the dates of those were from the early sixties, and we were listening to them as kids in the mid-seventies. after that, my first stirrings of connection to popular music and culture was upon hearing 'ymca' in third grade. i had my mom pick up the 45 for my and listened to it non-stop. that would've been third grade, 79' let's see, after that, i think i was mostly influence by my older sister, who listend to souless pop that came out in the early and mid-eighties. i don't mind it so much now. it's quaint and catchy. it brings back memories. and if it bores me, there is always something better that is new available. in 82' i discovered real rock and roll. i got hooked on a couple cheesy pop tunes that were actually from a bona-fide rock and roll group. i think the year was around 82 or 83, and the last STYX album with tommy shaw came out, 'kilroy was here' i was hooked on styx and hair band rock and roll till the near the end of the eighties. what choice was there? wang-chung? bananarama? chagagaogooo? yeah, ok. lol eventually though, the hair bands where about as deep as the bubble gum crap the pop stations were playing. the lyrics didn't mean shit, thought the music rocked. that when i discovered the beatles. and i became obessessed with music for the first time in my life. i ate, drank, slept, and did everything the beatles. i was fascinated with the whole story. and if you don't know what a passionate romantic timeless incredible heartbreaking epic story that the beatles are, you don't really know what rock and roll is or can be all about. . . or, at least i think. then after that, after i knew everything about the beatles, i was then schooled and prepared to distinguish great classic rockin roll from crap that will be forgotten in three years time. after every beatles album was in my soul, i continued to the rest of the basics. doors, zepplin, floyd, who, stones, hendrix. from there, naturally i progressed into folk such as bob dylan and janis joplin. after learning about and getting into folk, i got into a great group in high school called the indigo girls. the first album of theirs was amazing. their's was my first concert. and then lenny kravitz, NIN, TMBG and the smiths in college.after that, the two groups that have had the greatest affect on me are the barenaked ladies and cake. i have all of the albums from both of these groups, b/c they both speak to different sides of me. BNL to the happy go lucky romantic optimist, cake to the nay saying cynic.ok. i think that is pretty good, right? so now, i'll just list a bunch of genre’s that I enjoy, and some of the bands that I am familiar with in those genres. If you don’t agree with where I place a band, well, then I guess, get a hold of me and tell me why. Lol ;oP (all of my listings are in no particular order) -------------------------------------------------------I probably listen to alternative, alterna-rock and alterna-pop the most: The Sundays, The Replacements, Coldplay, Pearl jam, Spacehog, Outkast, Sublime, Fiona Apple, The White Stripes, Weezer, Violent Femmes, The Black Crowes, Creed, Live, Staind, Disturbed, Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, Greenday, Nirvana, alice in chains, Fiona apple, Audioslave, The Bloodhound Gang, tracy bonham, Breaking Benjamin, Cranberries, Evanescence, Faith No More, Foo Fighters, Four Non Blondes, Fuel, Garbage, jane’s addiction, jewel, Alanis Morissette, Dave Navarro, No Doubt, the Offspring, The Presidents of the United States of America, red hot chilli peppers, silver chair, Soundgarden, stabbing westward, STP, Velvet Revolver, Veruca Salt, Phish, Radiohead, Cake, Beck, Ween, soul asylum, smashing pumpkins, collective soul, 3 doors down, 10,000 maniacs, beastie boys, ben folds five, better than ezra, bjork & sugar cubes, the smiths, blink 182, lit, blues traveler, phish, audioslave, black 47, blur, brand new heavies, dee-lite, bush, CIV, depephe mode, the cure, everclear, eve 6, fatboy slim, gin blossoms, goo goo dolls, jet, kid rock, lenny kravitz, BNL, limp bizkit, POD, REM, screaming trees, seven mary three, Sheryl crow, sleater-kinney, smash mouth, social distortion, sonic youth, southern culture on the skids, sugar ray, tenacious D, talking heads, the cardigans, the clash, the sex pistols, the romanitics, the soup dragons, the wallflowers, TMBG, third eye blind, train, U2, weezer -------------------------------------------------- After that, I probably listen to classic rock the next most: The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, bob Dylan, Jethro Tull, Lou reed, paul mccartney, john lennon, wings, george Harrison, pink floyd, jimi Hendrix, the doors, frank zappa, steely dan, Santana, sly and the family stone, the greatful dead, Janis Joplin, journey, foreigner, heart, styx, led zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Roy orbison, Stevie Nicks, Ozzy, fleetwood mac, CCR, black sabbath, Tom Petty, ELO, Bob Seger, Eric Clapton, the steve miller band, aerosmith, America, bad company, cream, youngbloods, war, traffic, david bowie, joe cocker, Queen, Steppenwolf, the allmans bros, the doobie bros., the eagles, Leonard skynard, the moody blues, the pretenders and the Who ---------------------------------------------------- Next, I really love folk music. For two reasons. I love the existential nature of personal folks songs, and the re-birth and epiphanies of personal meanings and stories found in folks music. It also tends to be the major style of political protest, which I love as well: Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, indigo girls, peter-paul&mary, the mamas & the papas, joan baez, tracy chapman, ani difranco, joni Mitchell, jack Johnson, cat stevens, chris isaak, CSN, neil young, don mclean, edie bridkell & the new bohemians, jim croce, jimmy buffet, seals and crofts, sara mclachlan, van Morrison, and simon & garfunkel. ----------------------------------------------------- I’m not a big fan of country music, but I do like some classic country. I don’t know what it is about that really bluesy raw authentic country sound that I like, but I just do. It somehow just doesn’t have that cliché’ cheesy money making formula sound that usually sounds empty and depressing to me about today’s country: Willie nelson, patsy cline, Johnny cash. . . the man in black, where are you now when I got such a need a you? ----------------------------------------------------- I LOVE ska! But that is a genre that is hard to learn b/c it is so underground: Mustard plug, save ferris, mighty mighty boss tones, 311, no doubt, sublime, always open to learning more! ---------------------------------------------------- Swing and big band really swings kitty-kat!, any generation, and era!: Big bad voodoo daddy, cherry poppin daddys, brian setzer orchestra, Squirrel nut zippers, Ella Fitzgerald, billie holiday, Louie Armstrong, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Frank Sinatra, tony Bennett, the rat pack, harry connicl Jr., george and ira Gershwin. ----------------------------------------------------- Of course, reggae, but I don’t know a whole lot other than any name ending with marley, sublime, or UB40. lol ------------------------------------------------- I like some metal/hard rock/goth type stuff. I guess it depends on my mood and the band: NIN, system of a down, Rage Against the Machine, Kittie, KORN, Metallica, Rammstein, white zombie, rob zombie, godsmack, the prodigy, tool, perfect circle ----------------------------------------------------- I like some 80’s stuff too for nostalgia’s sake: Stray cats, Prince, SuperTramp, blonde, Joan Jett, ac/dc, billy joel, bruce springsteen, Cyndi lauper, duran duran, Elton john, eurythmics, INXS, the fixx, tears for fears, Thompson twins, culture club, the cars, the police, toto, van halen --------------------------------------------------- Also, when I’m in the mood, I like classical music and musicals. My favorite composer is Mozart, and I think my favorite musical is probably either les miserables, my fair lady, or fiddler on the roof. I like jazz, trance, new age, dance, and w/e and all that when in the right place and time. : the Phantom of the Opera original cast recording, enya, enigma, etc.

Movies:

"In the reality that surrounds your awareness in 3rd dimensional experience, it is easier to allow the seduction of your 5 senses into believing this is all there is to the duration of your stay within your body. Indeed this has been further enhanced by the introduction of the visual aids of photos, movies, TV and computers. To this add telegraph, telephone, satellites plus music and sporting events all beginning in childhood at the earliest possible moment. Where is there, within this onslaught of mind boggling confusion of distractions, time or desire to contemplate within silence anything but a replay of these experiences? The conscious awareness tries to clear out the clutter of this overload so that contact can be made with an inner awareness and contemplation can begin of how and why you are within this experience. This is a process that goes on quite naturally, except when the conscious half of this combination is overloaded with stimuli. It should be immediately apparent to the reader that this is the case in modern North American/European parts of the world. Furthermore, it is spreading to the more affluent elements around the planet. Once exposed to this mind stifling process, it appears to be relaxing. It is not relaxing, it is mind suppressing! The creative, self-contemplating portions of the awareness are being shut down. The more the experience is repeated, the more of an addiction is acquired. Instead of enjoying mentally stimulating experiences, these are experienced as disquieting and downright irritating. Thus you see the joggers with their wired up ears listening rather than contemplating their own thoughts. Somehow, they must stay connected to their addiction to distraction. If not radios or tapes, then it is car phones to stay connected so one can pontificate with their "friends"."

Television:

"You are trained by their methodology to think only about the programmed thoughts of acquiring things, others opinions, self preservation among thieves and murderers, and escape from self directed thoughts through addiction to TV, movies and Soul jarring music. Last but not least, pursuit of sexual experience, be it in or out of monogamous relationships. There is also the mind-boggling profusion of religious entities to further lead you from the personal quest of understanding the connection to the source of your presence on this planet in the first place. I can assure you that Jesus, Buddha and Mohamed had nothing to do with it. It is not that these beings did not exist, nor that they were not here to attempt to give you guidance in getting through this dilemma, but the messages they brought were distorted long ago. Neither did they come here to "get you out" by your belief in their existence, past or present. They came to teach you that you must get yourself through this by taking personal responsibility and creating through thought a new planetary experience. In this way only, will you be able to move through this painful experience." http://www.nomorehoaxes.com/content/view/22/1/
