I am going back to Charleston where there is a little bit of grace and charm left in this world." -

About Me

I HAVE HAD TO DELETE A NUMBER OF COMMENTS AND PHOTOS FROM MY PAGE. THEY DID NOT OFFEND ME BUT I DO USE MYSPACE WHEN CONTACTING SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE BOY SCOUTS. I AM URGING THEM TO VISIT PATRIOTS POINT AND TO HONOR OUR VETERANS AND "THE GREATEST GENERATION." SOME OF THE PHOTOS SENT AS COMMENTS BY VARIOUS GUYS WERE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR TEENAGERS. I consider myself sincere, real, reliable, giving and loving. I have achieved a level of success in my professional life that has been far more difficult to come by in my personal life. I can get pretty busy with work and I need friends to have compassion and understanding about that. I relocated to Charleston from San Francisco in late 2001 and at first it was a major cultural shock. No one forced me to stay, and now I would not consider moving back to the West Coast. I have had several relationships here, but I am finding it harder and harder to meet quality guys, which may have something to do with where in live, but I love my condo (thanks Mom and Dad) and my neighborhood. I have always heard love finds you when you are not actively looking, and I don't know how much more active it gets than putting your photos and life story on a webpage and telling guys you are single and available! That said, you also don't get anywhere in life without trying new things. Mr. Wonderful is not going to knock on my door, so I am doing the same type of advertising for myself that I do for the USS Yorktown, the "Fighting Lady"! I will now say all the typical things common to these profiles. I enjoy listening to live music, being outdoors, dining at upscale restaurants or ordering in and watching a movie. Don't we all like these things? I would hope so, but what makes me unique is that I'm probably the funniest person you'll ever meet, once you get to know me. Plus, I actually follow through with what I say. Gentle sarcasm goes hand and hand with me so if you have a quick whit we'll definitely hit it off. I am very honest and up front and try to surround myself with people who have the same qualities. I think I'm a kind and trustworthy person who is generous, ambitious, creative and sometimes a little mischievous. Hopefully you share some of these characteristics too. If I'm not at my volunteer job (see blog), you'll find me on the beach soaking up some rays and relaxing with friends or a good book. I have a soft girlie side to me too, I love to dress up or down with a feminine flair. I try to live my life with no regrets, sometimes taking chances and always trying to learn from my mistakes. I'm pretty laid back and even keeled; life's too short to let the little things get you down, so I always try to see the brighter side of situations and people. I like to be active, travel, cook, hang out with a good group of friends and simply enjoy life's ride even when it troughs you for a loop or two.

My Interests

There is nothing special about me. I have not won any awards since that spelling bee in the third grade. However, I am part of a fascinating family. One of my favorite tricks is to show new friends a modeling portfolio featuring runway, haute couture and swimwear shots. Their jaws always drop and my ego then gets inflated for several minutes as I listen to a vast stream of compliments. Unfortunately, I have to tell them the truth. I am not in any of the photos. It is my mother's portfolio and many of the shots are almost 30 years old. She was a super model in her twenties, and her first husband (not my father) is still a minor celebrity. You will have to meet me to find out his and her identity. Some guys have done a google search and figured it out. My condo has a large Vogue magazine cover and several people have told me they never knew I was so successful as a model. I then have to point out the date when the magazine was published. I was not yet born! My photo gallery contains one of mom's photos. Sorry guys, she is married. If you want to know more about her, read my "heroes" section.

I'd like to meet:

I am definitely open to meeting new friends, and that includes both men and women. I believe you can never have too many friends in this world. I'm looking for that partner in crime to explore Charleston with, have some laughs and just take one step at a time. Hey if something sparks great but making friends and having fun are important to me too. As for my ideal man for a meaningful relationship? I don't have any preconcieved notions of what he'll look or be like, but my wish list would include: intelligent, good sense of humor (see above), attractive (at least to me), sensual, secure, financially stable and capable of giving and receiving love. Oh yeah, and not too far away geographically (within 50 miles only, please). Also, he will like to take trips, snuggle (whether it's warm or cold outside), laugh (at life, himself, me and us), be kind and warm hearted and be okay with being romantic, which includes accepting romantic gestures from me. Sound like anyone you know? Like many other women I am hoping to meet the love of my life. Is there such a thing as a Soulmate? Someone more than just a significant other, but also my best friend. To be in a relationship means a lot to me! I am not looking to have dozens of short flings. In fact, I want as few as possible. Ideally, I want someone to want me, someone who cannot stand to be without me and someone I can feel the same about. Someone I can trust and be honest with and who can trust me and who can be honest with me. A sense of humor is always a plus, " a day without laughter is a day wasted." I really look for person who is driven to live their dreams and be successful. I want someone I can spend the rest of my life with, basically. Once again, relationships are super important to me. I put a lot, if not all, of my heart and soul into them.

Music:

R&B, RAP, alternative, punk, indie rock. My tastes are wide ranging, but I am not fond of house music or techno. I like to listen to Tyler Hilton, Gavin Degraw, The Killers, John Mayer, Christina Aguilera, India Arie, Nelly, Jay-Z, Linkin Park, Anthony Hamilton, Nora Jones, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Jin, Eminem, Tim Mcgraw, everything and anything thats sounds great.

Movies:

My friend Eric wrote this and I wanted to share it: "My favorite part of the Yorktown is the Medal of Honor Room. To stand before the names of hundreds of Service Members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for what they believe in can be very humbling, and additionally, puts life in perspective." As for movies, I would pick the usual suspects, the queen, marie antoinette, casino royale, borat, my big fat greek wedding, lotr, serendipity, primal fear, reservoir dogs, office space, bruce almighty, zoolander, hotel rwanda, gladiator, seven, austin powers: the spy who shagged me, secretary, meet the parents, how to lose a guy in 10 days.

Television:

Five Navy ships have had the name Yorktown. They were constructed in honor of the town in Virginia where the climactic and final battle in the autumn of 1781 resulted in America’s independence. This was the world’s first democratic revolution. The first Yorktown aircraft carrier (CV 5) was commissioned by Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937. This ship participated in the historic “Miracle at Midway” where four Japanese aircraft carriers were sunk. Six months earlier all of these carriers had participated in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor which resulted in America’s entry into WW II. Midway was a major setback for Japan but it also resulted in the sinking of the Yorktown on June 7,1942. The wreckage of this ship was discovered and examined in May 1998, in surprisingly good condition after fifty-six years beneath more than three miles of sea water. The USS Yorktown (CV 10) which is at Patriots Point today replaced her namesake. This ship inflicted heavy losses on the enemy in WW II at Truk and in the Marianas, and supported American troops in the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. For service off Vietnam she was awarded four battle stars. The Yorktown is the National Memorial to Carrier Aviation, and it serves as the headquarters for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum. The USS Yorktown is a National Historic Landmark.

Books:

The Notebook, 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, The World is Flat, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Principles of Marketing by Kotler, THE ALCHEMIST!!!, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, Veronika Decides To Die, Harry Potter series, Catcher in the Rye, Celestine Prophecy, Greek Mythology, Purpose Driven Life.

Heroes:

Even though it sounds corny, I would say my parents and grandmother. My mother was an Eileen Ford model and did a considerable amount of work for Chanel, Gucci, Yves St. Laurent and Prada. She was on the cover of several magazines, and her friends include members of bands such as Pink Floyd, the Jeff Beck Group, Cream and the Who. When I was in school, she was the hot mom, and she will always be a super model for me. I am still fascinated by her stories about the late 1960s and '70s. Her life at that time was far more exciting than mine will ever be. She is 5 feet 11 inches tall. How come I am only 5 feet 7? I am still waiting for that growth spurt! BTW, a few guys have asked if Janice Dickinson was my mother. The answer is no, but they did work together on an assignment. Dad is an executive in the entertainment industry but he is also a retired Rear Admiral in the Naval Reserves. Now you might understand my fascination with aircraft carriers. I have said alot about my mother because boys always want to know about her, but Dad is just as interesting. Don't ask him about the Vietnam War unless you have an hour to hear the response. The best thing is that they are still so obviously in love with one another. I also want to acknowledge my grandmother, she was the bedrock of our family. She was truly a remarkable role model. She accepted everyone for who they were on the inside, not by their appearance or wealth. Although she is not with us physically, I know she will always be with us in spirit. I miss you, Nanay!!!
