Wong Kar Wai, on the use of opera music in 2046 :"At first everyone is scared, all the distributors. They are saying, 'Be careful with opera'," he says. " 'Opera is something that means no box office.' I said, 'Well, that is not necessary'. Because what I am thinking is that some of the opera music we listen to was written 200 years ago and we are still listening to it - and what kind of music will we listen to in 2046? We need something that is classical, that is a constant. It is like a desert, like a mountain, it is always there."
