“Taking ska to new places.†That is one of the many quotes from their growing fan base which is only getting bigger.
The Hostiles are an Ayrshire band who formed in late 2001 with a goal not to conform to popular music. The band, as a whole, is influenced by bands as diverse as Reel Big Fish, Earth, Wind and Fire and The Beastie Boys.
The Hostiles’ first love is performing live. All their gigs are unique with their own atmosphere and vibe, “You guys are exactly what most ska bands need to be.... good, creative, and catchy.â€- garageband.com
They have shared the stage with great acts like Mouthwash, 3 Minute Warning, Catch it Kebabs, Mumrah, Zox, Beat Union, Zen Baseball Bat, King Blues, Chase Long Beach, Random Hand, Leftover Crack, Zebrahead, have toured with Fandangle and loads more.
The Hostiles have recorded 2 demos; “Big Kahuna?†at Soundmagic Studios in Ayr (2004) produced by JP Reid and “Niceday E.P†at Maybank Studios in Glasgow (2006) produced by Matt Harvey. Live Music Direct (Scotland) said that Niceday E.P was “serious, energetic, complex and fun to listen to†and “From a couple of listens to their EP I will certainly be keeping an eye out for them and what must be a compelling live performance.â€
Having been together for almost 6 years now their collaborative writing has grown and their musical influences are always expanding. Performing, recording and expanding their fan base will be their main focus for 2007. “These boys kick the ass out of the Blink 182 brigade. If you get a chance go and see them, a definite recommendationâ€- livemusic.direct.co.uk
