Let The Lights Go Out-Let The Rain Fall Down

About Me

Influenced by life, love and the pursuit of the perfect song is what best describes songwriter James Wood's passion.

Jim has been a musician for most of his life but seriously began writing and performing as a student in high school. There, he honed his chops in creative writing, music theory, choir and local bands. All the while keeping to one thing: writing songs that cross barriers and mean something.

Jim's been able to share his music with audiences from small clubs and fairs to major concert venues. The message in his music transcends all genres.

As both lyricist, songwriter and band member, Jim's been fortunate to have been involved in projects that received multiple nominations at the Lehigh Valley Music Awards. Most recently, the all original CD, "The Long Road" won the award for Best Overall CD In All Genres for 2007. Jim wrote six songs on the CD.

Jim's also had the unique opportunity to perform as part of the opening act for artists as diverse as three time Grammy nominee Jamie O'Neal, American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken and Mercury Nashville recording artist Julie Roberts.

Jim believes totally in the meaning of the songs and not himself. That's why you'll find that most of his songs have been sung by others. But he sums it up best by saying, "The message is within the music and is so much more than me."

The Long Road - Released: March 11, 2006

WINNER- Best Overall CD: Any Genre - Lehigh Valley Music Awards 2007

Escaping complete classification because they mix so much into their musical stew - there's country, pop, blues, gospel and rock to name a few. But the way the band mixes adds their personal spices to the sonic blend, which is creative and refreshing. Most bands who are eclectic in their influences usually f--k it up by sounding too "out there" and jumbled, but this effort stays consistent.

Lead singer Heather Hillegass (who won the star of Bethlehem vocal competition at Musikfest) is the centerpiece for the band. Her soulful timbre mixed with her confident swagger makes lines like "I'd give up my daytime soaps for one night of romance" sound, well..a lot better than they actually are.

DINER - Released: April 15, 2005

WINNER - Best Country CD - Lehigh Valley Music Awards 2006

Consisting of five very talented area musicians and giving the locals something to holler about. Its flavor is one part pop, one part country ... and two more parts country. The result is a pretty tasty treat that's made even sweeter by lead singer Heather Hillegass' fantastic voice.

A 10-song barrage of pop-country songs (three of which are original tracks written by the group), is a poppy take on traditional country. The seven other songs are contemporary country covers (entertaining, to say the least). I think the band has enough talent to carry on a full original set. Its own songs are well-conceived works that show the band's original artistic side.
