Artese N Toad just released their new single Two American Tunes featuring "AMERICAN TUNE (Paul Simon) and WILLIE'S OLD GUITAR" to i-Tunes. Both songs are now ready for download at i-Tunes.
Artese N Toad are Roots/Americana songwriters and recording artists. The duo's catalog, written over a period of 20 years, contains over 200 songs, some of which have been covered by indi artists. Notably the duo has had four cuts recorded by legendary writer/producer Dave Appell's Applejax.
2001 saw the release of their CD about trains called "They Don't Write Songs About Trains Anymore." The CD, produced by Daoud Shaw, is now in national retail distribution and US distribution by Charles Products. The CD's are also available at digital music outlets. Two songs from the first train CD have been licensed by MTH Electric trains and packaged with their train sets. "Ghost on the Track" from that CD has been featured in two CD compilations. In 2005 a follow up to the Train Cd was released and both continue to sell to train song fans across the US.In 2008 the duo released two projects. The first one was a CD single featuring Paul Simon's "American Tune" and fan favorite "Willie's Old Guitar." In November 2008 Artese N Toad released a 10 song original Christmas Cd called "The "Americana Christmas Project." "Christmas Street," the single (2007) from that release held the number 1 postion at Podhoster for 5 weeks and was downloaded 3600 times from i-Tunes. Radio plays have increased the past two years on college, NPR, and indi radio across the US.
Artese N Toad's live performances feature a mix of songs from their Americana catalog and cover tunes from the 70's singer/songwriter era. "We always seem to surprise someone in the audience" says DiMeo. Artese N Toad has the ability to pull out a song that's not been played for 30 years and sing it word for word. "People love that," and it's great fun just to play some of this stuff says Artese. It also keeps the folks on our little coffee house circuit guessing!"
The duo is currently recording their new CD with working title "Meadowood Lane" with producer and label partner Daoud Shaw. The songs on the new CD all have a nostalgic theme. The lead track, '59 Biscayne, is a joy ride back to a time when cars had big fins. The title track is a fun little song about rocking out with the old neighborhood garage band. Other titles on the CD include: "Rose to Remember," "Reverend Cobb," "Homecoming," "Old Folks," and "Monsters Around." The new Cd will feature rhythm section players Daoud Shaw and Michael Radcliffe.
Artese N Toad are looking forward to performing at festivals and cafes in the mid-Atlantic area this summer. They also hold a well established Singer-Songwriter night at Pennsylvania's oldest Community theater called Barnstormers. The shows are held in the spring and fall each year and feature aspiring and professinal songwriters from every music genre. "We are building a great audience and community for independent music. The shows are always unique and are very well supported" says Artese. Anyone interested in performing with Artese N Toad contact them through this site.
