About Me

The most important thing you might need to know is that I'm an Irish (American) Woman. Passion, humor, temper and shit-talking reign supreme. I'm the oldest of seven children and so I'm sorta tough. I've lived all around the globe because my dad was in the Army. I am a lover and a fighter. I've had more jobs than I should have and they've ranged from cocktail waitress to radio DJ. I know how to do a lot of things. I can sew a couch together and ski in a bathing suit. I have a soft spot for cute things and I coo like an idiot. I am a music lover, of course. I am a writer, so watch out. I love my sense of humor and usually, its pretty hard to make me laugh- but I laugh all the godamn time. It's actually annoying to those who take life too seriously. I can hang with the uber-rich and hang with the dying homeless. Nothing really fazes me these days. I only surround myself with good people, though... I love good people.

My Interests

Tap dancing, stand-up, biking, sewing, exercising, crossword, asking questions to strangers, brushing my hair, singing songs with cab drivers, going to shows, billiards (no slop), and cards... mainly euchre. Oh- and how can i forget baseball? I love smashing it up in a batting cage...

Music:

In no particular order, some musicians I like are: The Sparks, Califone, Daft Punk, Stereolab, Willie Nelson, Silversun Pickups, The Lovemakers, Aqueduct, Out Hud, Bloc Party, Fischerspooner, Beirut, Chromeo, Futureheads, Caetano Veloso, the Cure, LCD Soundsystem, The Kills, The Beach Boys, Nick Drake, Imitation Electric Piano, Stravinsky... to name a few

Movies:

Bunny Lake is Missing, Human Nature, Parallax View, The Shining, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Raintree County, Gone with the Wind, Donnie Darko, Cinema Paradiso, Talk to Her, Land of the Dead... so many, so many. I have many reasons for why I like the different movies that I do, so the topic may as well be: What is your favorite sort of pizza when you're hungover with a new haircut and its raining and you have a broken leg on Tuesday... because my answer would definitely be spinach and cheese thin crust.

Television:

Rome, Extras, Sopranos

Books:

A few staple authors: Nabokov, Chabon, Parker, Kafka, Kundera, Jackson, Eugeniendes... to name just a few... I read The Star in the bathroom. I get Psychology Today and Radar Magazines, if that helps you in any way.

Heroes:

My family, through and through... no matter how lame things are sometimes. I have a few friends I greatly admire for their strength. The real ones humble me with their authentic-ness.

Here's lookin' at Ewe, kid

Ahhh! The new year is upon us and I'm as happy as a clam! For me, this past year was all about "organizing the office". AKA, paying off debt, investing in the market, buying a car and fixing my cre...

The Perils of Drunk Blogging

Let's face it folks, nobody wants to listen to you when you've been drinking.  You can't form your words right, you start stuttering- sometimes you even make shit up.  It's just not pretty. ...

The Indiscreet Charm of Impending Doom

There is nothing I like more than coming home from work and unwinding to a new album I just bought with my eyes closed. It's a good thing I work right next to Virgin, because the options are endless....

When I was 19 and just a fresh arrival to the city of Chicago, I saw a little baby on roller skates on the pier. He was all by himself. My heart immediately leapt out of my chest! Oh my god! The b...

Maybe the story can start like this...

A vertical slice of light crept through her black curtains and started to pry her eyes open. Always 4 minutes before the alarm went off. She rolled over and tucked herself further in the confines of...

Will you miss me when I close my eyes?

Everyday I board the train and it's an absolute sardiney experience.  Cheek to cheek with strangers, hanging on for dear life.  We all smell and we sneeze and get to learn each others shampo...
