cities growing up out of the ground, plant like little buildings that share space with the flowers, cut them open and the juice of them raw and fragrant. digital electric heart thump, lcd stars, untangling and watching the sun go down like a tablet of alka selser. the trees that survived and tower it all. machines that respond to human touch. trickling and dripping beyond the windows...
my own honest heart
a human voice. grizzly bear, the jackobites, roland alphonzo, califone, TROST, carla bruni, edith piaf, ali farka toure, beirut, feist, karen dalton, fred neil, friends and family music, ther is a lot of that. still making small stretching four track recordings, sounds that are warmth and tingle, that are weighted or bottomless. washing from the waves, in the dark, slightly warm. stereolab again, and also that one broadcast album, silly chinese albums that i don't understand, taking a class in chinese pop music really soon, and that sounds like big fun. whistles and kazoos on the right day. empty accoustic guitar sustain. poems about the weather and singing in a large large space...the birds who ilve in cages just outside my window in the morning breakfast chatter...

Here is the poster I made for Beirut's last shows of their tour in LA at the Wiltern Theater, May 30 & 31. They sold out at the show, so look for my reprint of this piece in July, using blues instead of pinks....thanks folks! keep well!gina kelly, Weather Maker Press

“If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go into business, because we'd be too cynical. Well, that's nonsense. You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.†-annie dillard
