About Me

The last thousand bee's waxed albums of "lonesome tunnel hum these strong arm drones" are done and nearly sold out. We are moving on to another project of equal energy and hours. Feeling a sense of possibility, humanity, and hope. We've been writing new songs. We will have a new album done in april 2008. We will be heading back to the UK in summer 2008. This is an update long overdue. We'll check in. We'll be more vigilant. It's hard to concentrate on everything at once. Music is utmost, and of course, love.
recent happenings: We played in san francisco, la, bloomington indiana, chicago, edinburgh, london last summer, 2007. Shows in echoey churches, on streets. Even performed at an abandoned military base on an island w/ oi polloi. There were binding assurances that we should be out there. Staying connected as we edge towards the four year mark as a group. Traveling and performing has been exhilarating, making the most of unruly situations. And to everyone we've run into out there, thank you, for giving us refuge, meals, and material support.
old news and history: oso began out of the rubble of volta do mar in 2003. Amid acoustic guitar unicycle hitch hiking, phil wrote songs that were recorded in different locales eventually assembled into the album 48507. phil met tim, another michigan native in santa barbara. We started playing with andrew, who phil met at a mental health facility where they both worked. nick sooned joined, making us a quartet. a six month hiatus. phil left for africa, played programs with the gambian national army band, traveled by military transport truck, did a solo tour in the uk that was the opening that has us doing this UK migration year after year. (fast forward a year). We did a 3 week spring tour in 06 that brought us to seattle, chicago, and back through the southwest. July 06, Nick played at the Django Reinhart music festival in france. Phil played some solo performances in london, edinburgh, cork, and dublin. Spring of 2007, we did a two week tour of California. outbursts of songs, and summer.
the future: Keeping up with these computer mediums, taking the music to the streets, visceral blood, humaness, safe navigating and performing the LIGHNING IN A BOTTLE FESTIVAL in california MAY 2008. stay tuned for more info.
