All of the above songs have been written / recorded / performed by Josef Clinch and Robert Shuttleworth under the name Your Distant Family.
Your Distant Family is a reference to the things that people create:
Machines, Buildings, Music, Art, Anything. They are a part of us because we have made them.
Josef Clinch and Robert Shuttleworth have been in bands together for more than four years. They have grown up with their music and each other. Your Distant Family came into being when their previous band lost their drum kit in 2005. But instead of giving up they decided to create music with whatever they could get their hands on, most notably computers, resulting in their very mechanical sound. This enthusiasm has only grown stronger and stronger over the years, with more than 30 songs written together, each one better than the last. They take influence from all types of music across all genres, numbers, colours, art time and space, sucking it in, chewing it up and spitting it out.
When they're not playing music, Josef studies Graphic Design at Central St Martins, and Robert studies Illustration at London College of Communication.
