On the morning of July 23, 2007, we lost our beloved Cassie from an accidental drug overdose. Cassie was a bright, energetic, and fun loving young woman with a quick wit and a kind heart. She loved music, spending time with family and friends, caring for animals, and most of all, life.As the case with many adolescents, cassie encountered difficult choices and expierenced growing pains as a result or her decisions. Her initial experimentation with drugs rapidly escalated into an addiction that would eventually take her life. Cassie was well aware of the power her addictionhad on her life. Just two months prior to her death, Cassie sought out inpatient/residential treatment for her substance abuse problem. However, her efforts for placement were unsuccessful due to limited income , no insurance, and a lack of awarness of available treatment options. Despite ongoing support of family and friends and the hard work of the outpatient counselors, Cassie was unable to break free from the grasp of her addiction. On the morning of July 23, 2007, we lost our beloved Cassie. We lost our dreams for her future, our days are alot less colorful, and the world lost a beauliful, caring, young woman.SUBTANCE ABUSE TOUCHES THE LIVES OF ALL OF US IN SOME FORM. IT IS OUR HOPE THAT CASSIE'S CAUSE WILL PREVENT OTHER FAMILIES FROM EXPIERENCING THE PAINFUL STRUGGLES THAT WE CONTINUE TO FACE. CASSIE LOVED CHILDREN AND THEY, IN TURN, SEEMED DRAWN TO HER RADIANT SMILE.THOSE OF US WHO LOVED CASSIE KNOW THAT SHE WOULD WANT OTHERS, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN, TO LEARN FROM HER DEATH. AS A RESULT, 100% OF FUNDS RECIEVED BY CASSIE'S CAUSE WILL BE DONATED TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE EDUCATION AND PREVENTION PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS IN THE TRI-COUNTY AREA.WE SINCERELY THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING CASSIE'S CAUSE AND HELPING US KEEP HER MEMORY ALIVE IN A POSITIVE MANNER.CASSIE'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS
