About Me

I was born and raised in Greensburg, KY. I have been playing music since I was around 5 or 6. I started as a drummer and was in a rock & roll band by age 11 with The Tarantulas, and I also played in a country band with my Dad at Dixie Jamboree and later it became the Mammoth Opry in Cave City Ky. When I started high school, I started playing guitar and I played lead guitar and vocals with several rock bands throughout the school years.I graduated from High School in 1970. After graduation, I went to Medical School in Nashville and became a Medical Technologist. When I graduated, I started working at TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, KY.I got married to my wonderful and loving wife, Debora in 1974 and moved to Radcliff, Ky. and as of April 12,08 we have been happily married for 34 years. We have two great daughters, Cessini and Jalynna and sons-in-law, Joe and Wes and have one grandson, Seany, which means everything to me and I love with all my heart, as in that old saying he's my "pride and joy." When I moved to Radcliff I got into Business Management and became the GM of Velva Darnell Record Shop and music store. During that time, I got into photography, shooting country and rock concerts and eventually, became a professional photographer. I also was in a country band called Velva & Co. In 1979 I went into my own business, called Delynn's Camera Center, which was a camera center, photography studio and card and gift store. In 1982 we decided to move to Florida. I was hired as GM at one of the largest retail stores in Florida with 65 stores, called Luria's. After 13 years I left the retail business and I got back into the medical field and I was hired in 1995 as administrator for a Neurology Medical Center in Tampa. In 1999 I decided to work closer to home and was hired as a business supervisor overseeing 26 hospitals in special collections, which involved all the health insurance company collections and several other areas of the business for the 26 hospitals. During the 23 years in Florida I continued to play music and was in a country band called, Country Profile and I played Bass guitar and vocals.I was ordained as a deacon at our church which was First Baptist of Hudson in November later becoming the chairman of the deacons. In December 2000, I became sick , which I had been healthy all my life, never smoked, drank or tried any type of recreational drugs, so I figured, this is my first big challenge and a test of my faith. I was diagnosed with Wilson's Disease, which is normally a rare and fatal disease that is as auto-somal recessive gene that I inherited from my parents and your body produces to much copper and destroys your liver. At that time the percentage was 1 in a million that was diagnosed with Wilson's disease. This was a realllly big test!I continued to work until August 2002 and on 9-11-02, I had a liver transplant and through the grace of God, I'm here to tell about it and I'm very blessed with my Life. During that time, as well as the liver being destroyed, I had complete kidney failure and was on dialysis and was given 20 hours to live if a liver was not found. I received the liver from a 35-year-old man who had died from a brain aneurysm. I came through all that and everything is now functioning normally. After the transplant, I retired disability and in 2005 we moved back to Ky. in Greensburg where I grew up. I started playing lead guitar and lead vocals in a country band called, Untamed and in 2007 I started with a gospel group called The Trinity Gospel Aires playing drums and/or lead guitar, whichever is needed and vocals.I was ordained as a Deacon in 2000 and was active as Chairman of the Deacons at First Baptist of Hudson, Florida until the transplant. We now attend the church I grew up in, Bethlehem Baptist and besides playing with the gospel group, I design web sites, work with the local newspaper, the Record-Herald as a photo journalist and staff writer plus I teach guitar two days a week. I'm doing all the things I love to do and I thank God for being so blessed.
