My Interests

I'm a bibliophile, plain and simple. Those that know what that is, nod and smile. The rest of you, go look it up. It won't hurt, as long as you go easy on the page edges of the ol' Dictionary. Papercuts are vicious. Especially when dipped into a nice little cup of lemon juice. Mmmm.... And yeah, I party. Next question?

I'd like to meet:

Just have a brain and use it. That's all I ask. Of course, a sense of humor helps as well... especially around me.

Music:

The Misfits, The Reverend Horton Heat, NIN, Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, The White Stripes, Amon Tobin, Joy Division, the Creatures, Bauhaus, the Police, etc., etc., ad nauseum. If it doesn't make me want to saw my own head off to make the sound stop boring into my brain, chances are I listen to it.

Movies:

Yes, please.

Television:

I don't watch TV, I play videogames. Horde!

Books:

Steven Erikson, Joe Abercrombie, K.J. Parker, Dan Abnett, Sandy Mitchell, Gene Wolfe, Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, James Ellroy, Terry Pratchett, Stephen King, George R.R. Martin, Dashiell Hammett, J.R.R. Tolkien, Isaac Asimov, Jack Vance, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Stephen Ambrose, H.P. Lovecraft, Alan Moore, Frank Miller, and Raymond Chandler would all make up a good starter kit for my literary tastes.

Heroes:

Oh, Tyler Durden... why hast thou forsaken us? Stephen King once referred to Cthulu as, "a gigantic, tentacle-equipped, killer vagina from beyond space and time." I had no idea. Seriously, however.... My father. My father is my hero. Always has been.

My Blog

Photos as Time Capsule

A few days ago I posted a good lot of photos on my profile. I had discovered an old digital camera, you see. It was chock full of photos of days gone by. Looking at them was like discovering a time ca...

A thought.

Sometimes I feel like an ornament on the tree of my own vanity. I can do so many things decently. Jack of all trades, master of none. I wonder if I could only do one thing well, how far would I have g...

Busy, busy, busy...

I’ve quasi-abandoned my MySpace. I check my inbox from my phone, but that’s about it. I haven’t died. Don’t fret.

slap on your condiments

I had quite the anti-bachelor moment tonight. No one was more shocked at that than me, I assure you. Opening my fridge, I realized that it was full of food and I had no condiments. The horror. The hor...

The making of me.

Most people grow up with childhood heroes. Posters on your wall. A favorite character in a comic book. I grew up with childhood gods. I don't mean to say that I was religious, which I was in a bizarre...

Sickness and literature

I've had the flu this week. It's been fantastic for various toilet paper compnies, booksellers and Cambell's Soup sales but not much else. Two authors that everyone must read: Joe Abercrombie and KJ P...

Curses to sleeping.

I pulled one of the most cardinal of sins. It always seems to be a good idea at the time. Curl up. Nice and warm with a good book in bed. Tummy full of food. Happy times. Fall asleep at 8pm. Wake up a...

The Holidays

Another Holiday Season has come and gone. It snowed here on Christmas Day. I don't go to mass. I visit cathedrals for the structure and beauty of them. Not to pray. I could do that better watching a s...

Back from the dead.

A week or so ago, I came home from a long night at the bar. You're shocked, I know. It happens. It used to happen a lot more often, but that's by the by. Me coming home from bars I mean. I digress. On...
