I am a collection of water, calcium and organic molecules called Gabe Kniffin. I am a rock & roll guitar player working on a second Bachelor's degree. I used to play in a band called redshift , but we went on hiatus last fall. Since then, I've followed redshift drummer, Tyler , into the band, Silversafe (See our snocap store below).
I like science, beer, and rock & roll, but not necessarily in that order. I'm also fond of dogs.

Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along - whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger.
