About Me

Jones McAllister is co-host and co-potentate of Culture vs. Christian (CvC), an online Christianpodcast/community/forum/magazine thing. You should definitely look into this phenomenon:

www.culturevschristian.com

Jones is also, quite simply, the man.

Although he is considered by many to be "the man," he still finds that he is largely inconsistent and still working out his faith with much fear, trembling, and Frank's Hot Sauce.

Jones is now working through much of his bitterness towards the conventional church, emergent christianity, and postmodern worldviews. He has come to see that much of his noble objections to all he used to criticize was really just selfish bitterness, the root of which he really can't pin his finger on - maybe just years of fakery and phonery within the church (from which he does not exclude himself).

So Jones is a nicer person now. Maybe.

My Interests

I'm really into interesting things. Other than that, I can't really think of anything.

I'd like to meet:

A well-dressed Englishman who arrives to tell me that a long-distant relative I've never even heard of has died and I have inherited his billion dollar fortune.

I've met many Nigerians who say this, but I will only trust the Englishman.

Music:

Coldplay, David Gray, Iron & Wine, Darrell Scott, Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, Radiohead, and cheesy Christian music.

Movies:

Some That Come to Mind:

A Life Less Ordinary, Pleasantville, The Last Temptation of Christ, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Big Lebowski, Being There, Serenity, Superbad, Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Accepted

Punch ’Em in the Nose and Take Their Cookies

There's a lot about the nature of our God revealed in the book of Nahum (and it's a very small book, so it wouldn't hurt to go read it real quick - honestly, takes about seven minutes or so). The fi...

The Problem with the Gospel

The problem we all have with the gospel lies in our great desire to dig holes. We're all digging holes for ourselves.  It's in our sinful natures to do so.  With prideful belief in our inalie...

And Hurtin for Dessert

It's funny.I'm looking back to last summer.  On a video blog back then, I talked about how God was leading me through some bitterness.  And I was talkin' like I'd had it licked. But where God...

How ’Bout a Bitterness Sandwich?

The other day God gave me the opportunity to see someone who I really hated for about three years.  I mean, hated. Despised.  I hadn't seen this person for probably about a year, and seeing...
