Folk group was established in 1996 in Gdañsk, by young people, Ukrainians from Poland. Looking back in history Chutir means a little village in the Ukraine, where lived Ukrainian fighters from XVII age-Cossacks. They were incessantly forced to leave their home by invaders form Russia and Turkey. Band’s name completely shows the situation of young members of CHUTIR, who are separated from their native land, culture and language, because their ancestry were deported after Second World War in 1947, from South and East Part of Poland (homeland of Ukrainian minority in Poland) to Northern Poland.
The music inspirations of Chutirdescend from multicultural Polish -Ukrainian borderland, which is storehouse of songs and folk melodies. Actually repertoire stock of “CHUTIR†includes more than 60 songs and melodies, selected and worked up with great care about their genuineness and authenticity. “CHUTIR..s origin is specific kind of stage expression - young musicians and singers are fully commit to melody and rhythm. It is very important, especially when they are playing songs and melodies from Carpathian Mountains (Galicia, Bukowina and Huculs Regions).
The instrumental composition: The most of the folk instruments used by Chutir are especially typical for the Ukrainian music: bagpipe - string instrument, sopilki - kind of flutes Group also plays the typical folk instruments: violin, drums, accordion, bass guitar and drums instruments from South America. Chutirwithin 10 years has given over than 500 concerts; always enthusiastic appreciated by the audience.
