About Me

Two bullets, two DJs = the doubleplusstrong sound to shake the soul shack on the backstreets of New York City.
Tommy Bomb & Raul The Hooligan formed the Double Barrel Sound System in 2005 to spin the classic Anglo-Jamaican thug sounds: reggae, rocksteady, ska, soul, mod, Oi! and punk, with an emphasis on the boss tunes circa '69.
We've been lucky enough over our tenure to spin with some of our friends and favorite selecters in the city's reggae underground, including:

Miss Gemini and Upsetter FC , of Tighten Up! Brooklyn DJ Dolanite , formerly of Tunnel One Philthy and Destro , of SPQR Jah Point of Shockwave Sound System Agent Jay and Marvelous Hagler of Crazy Baldhead Sound System Gibraltar Sound System of Brooklyn Pickabar DJ Cockfosters of All England Club We have finally settled in a new home, Greenpoint's finest Boulevard Tavern . With its patio, pool table, rustic atmosphere and BBQ, this bar suits us perfectly as we launch this new venture in partnership with the Shockwave Sound .

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who enjoy good music and good beer. We will also accept people who like loud music and cheap beer. Or whiskey.

Music:

Reggae, reggae and more reggae. We love to play the rocksteady, ska, blue beat and boss skinhead reggae. We've also been known to dish the soul, Northern, freakbeat, mod revival, Oi!, hardcore and punk.

Heroes:

Prince Buster, Lee Perry, Duke Reid, Coxsone Dodd, Alton Ellis, Derrick Morgan, Leslie Kong, Jackie Mittoo, Don Drummond, Stranger Cole, King Tubby....Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Shane MacGowan, Brendan Behan, Bobby Fowler, The Deadbeat Dads and any other alcoholic geniuses.
