The storm is rollin' in, but I stay here just the same...

About Me

My Interests

Verbally assaulting redneck simpletons that firmly believe possessing and wearing Gucci sunglasses makes you a fag, listening to Saves the Day more than any human being ever should, weekly "what have you been listening to?" music chats, discovering that I haven't the willpower to walk through my basement without picking up at least one instrument and playing it, sitting in the "orange chair" (NO! it's not for sale so quit asking me... dunsky), being a one-person minority while residing in America's last frontier (they say it like it's a GOOD thing)

I'd like to meet:

For starter's, a fun-loving gal that'll not only spark up a doob' but will also listen to the Grateful Dead with me. Is that so much to ask? Either that or John Mayer's brother (the ever-elusive 'Ben') so I can ask him how much he hates his life. I saw him at the Citylights Pavilion once, but I didn't get a chance to ask him. Beyond that I'm gonna say: Johnny Marr (I'd end up asking him what the fuck he's been doing all these years!), Ryan Adams and Caitlin Cary in a heartfelt reunion, Paul Thomas Anderson (so I can thank him for partially inspiring 'When The Pawn'... he's a pretty good director too), Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland (I guess I wouldn't be disappointed if Sting were there too), the girl that stands out on Grand dressed up like the Statue of Liberty (that's probably the only one that can actually be arranged... bless her heart), anyone that loves music or is truly, deeply and utterly passionate about SOMEthing... anything, even potpourri

Music:

This one I'll take seriously, cause you can't fuck around with music. The Beatles first and foremost. Anyone who doesn't agree that they were the most amazing, influential and original musicians on the planet has much to learn, and I've already lost interest in teaching you. I'll just start listing, starting with my absolute favorites: Sublime, Ryan Adams, Whiskeytown, The Ladybug Transistor, Ben Folds/Five, THE SMITHS, Morrissey, Van Morrison, The Clash, Oasis, New Order/Joy Division, Fiona Apple, Coldplay, WEEZER, Radiohead (I'm not joking about that...), Talking Heads, David Byrne, Brian Eno/Roxy Music, Sean Lennon, Sonic Youth, Gram Parsons, Flying Burrito Brothers, International Submarine Band, The Byrds, 311, Athlete, Al Green, The Who, The Bluetones, Mars Volta, The Pretenders, Elton John, A Tribe Called Quest, Elvis Costello, Allman Brothers Band, Nick Drake, Josh Rouse, Counting Crows, The Cure, Crowded House/Finn Brothers, Better Than Ezra, Brendan Benson, Matthew Sweet, The Gin Blossoms, Steely Dan, Grateful Dead, Carole King, Third Eye Blind, Saves The Day, Jamiroquai, Death Cab for Cutie, Tori Amos (I know I know, but the chick has pipes and she can rock that piano. For those of you who are too 'manly' to admit you like her, your homo-erotic activities always catch up to you)... VERY Honorable Mention: Jon Brion, Billy Joel, Scissor Sisters, Common, Matisyahu, Beulah, Blur, Rufus Wainwright, Ruby Suns, The The, The Good The Bad and The Queen, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Shins, Kula Shaker, The Kinks, Nada Surf, Bloc Party, Rhett Miller, Old 97's, A Band of Bees, Travis, Copeland, The Format, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Pete Yorn, The White Stripes, Daft Punk, Jane's Addiction, Jimmy Eat World, The eels, The Roots, The Decemberists, Gary Jules, John Legend, J5, Feist, Imogen Heap, Frou Frou, The Kooks, Black Eyed Peas, Ben Harper, Ben Kweller, Ben Lee, Nickel Creek, The Faint, Guns N' Roses, G. Love, Marvin Gaye, Sondre Lerche/and Faces Down, RHCP, Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, Primus, Matt Chimes, Kowanko, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Roy Hargrove, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Aesop Rock, Guster, Electric Light Orchestra, Travelin' Wilbury's, Film School, Elliott Smith, Heatmiser, Neutral Milk Hotel, Digable Planets, Phish, Lauryn Hill, Pearl Jam, Kings of Convenience, Incubus, Flamin Lips, The Eagles, Grizzly Bear, Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler, Damien Rice, Cake, Chris Isaak

Movies:

The Usual Suspects, Sneakers, Garden State, Lost in Translation, Magnolia, Royal Tenenbaums, Elizabethtown, Gladiator, 40 Days 40 Nights, Man on Fire, Amelie (I can't remember the fancy French title. Sorry TyChan), Garden State (it's there twice for a reason), Office Space, Shawshank Redemption (truly epic!), The Big Lebowski (one of the few movies that gets funnier every damn time you watch it), Braveheart, Rushmore, Election, Rocky movies...

Television:

[insert answer here]

Books:

Letters To A Young Poet... that's all I need to say

Heroes:

George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bradley Nowell, Adam Duritz, Jaco Pastorius, Ben Folds, Jerry Garcia, Matt Chimes and Mike Boyd (the only two musicians who have ever made me feel like I need to move across the country solely to aid in the creation of original music)
