Sounds Like: WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:

If there’s one word to describe newcomer Naommon’s debut album, Allnighter, it’s “electro-purple-fluoro-plastic-sulky-acid-soul-clashy-disc o-sequin-pop.” OK, so that’s several words strung together – and a description by the singer himself – but, come on, you’ve gotta admit that it’s pretty fucking fantastic. But, does Allnighter live up to this liberal use of adjectives? In a word, yes-if-you-like-the-glitter-to-grit-of-grounded-electro-soul . A former contestant on the French TV talent show “Popstars,” Naommon brings his Parisian experience to Harlem, N.Y., where he’s combining his musical influences – David Bowie, Prince and Deee-Lite, among others – into his own sound, which easily can be dubbed “innovative reminiscence.” Allnighter’s title track is a clear indication of the young artist’s 1980s upbringing – synthesizers and all – while tracks like “Hurry Up” hustle back a decade with its undeniable disco flair. Flipping on the soul switch to clubland’s often apathetic aura, Naommon gives you new reason to sweat till the sun rises. – Michael Knipp, The Rox Box (syndicated), Gay & Lesbian Times, San Diego, CA, August 2007

…it’s no surprise that tracks like the title one and Make It Right evokes images of a fashion scene - it’s fun, sexy, and danceable with pulsating beats…Beginning Everyday borrows its poppy sounds from the Pet Shop Boys, bringing to mind early romance scenes, I’m a Woman recalls The Tom Tom Club as it demonstrates a more sensitive side, Annie L is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and educes a dark, gritty neighborhood…" – Sharon Gordin, Edgenewyork.com (all portals), August 7 2007

Hot New Talent Alert: Naommon: Emerging French pop singer Naommon just released his new single "Allnighter" on iTunes in the U.S. It is an exuberant electro stomper accompanied by a stylish, glistening music video that depicts a wild night out in Manhattan. The song is the title track from the singer's debut album that is available on iTunes as well….Niammon's record is an accomplished funk, pop and electro album that feels raw and authentic. Not overly produced. Highlights include the throbbing house-infused "This Quirck Is Love," the minimal hip-hop styled "Annie L" and "Bring Your Boo," the gritty electro jam "You're So Boyish" and the '80 inspired pop ballad "Beginning Everyday." – Arjan Timmermans, Arjanwrites.com, August 9, 2007

Electro dandy Naommon (pronounced "NOW-mun") offers up some cool dance tracks on his slickly produced Allnighter. The French-born fashionista spent time between Paris and Harlem, working with producers Julien Lenoir, Dondolo, Danton Eeprom and Copyshop. Co-writing all but one song, the album features some notable gay content like "You're So Boyish" and the catchy standout "I'm a Woman." – Next Magazine, Keo Nozari, August 10, 2007

Popster Naommon may be France’s answer to Mika. Only darker, edgier and - dare we say? – Better? – Andrew Belonsky, Queerty.com, August 13, 2007

Naommon is one to watch with eyes wide open. On his superlative debut the sexy, French born troubadour with the slinky vocals puts a disco-flavored, soul-drenched spin on a collection of superior dance tracks that look forward while simultaneously reaching back for musical inspiration. From the retro house influenced “This Quirk Is Love” to the laidback, lounge groove “Hurry Up’ to the playfully, campy “ I’m A Woman” to the funky, R& B flavored “Bring Your Boo,” Naommon establishes himself as a new force in dance music… one who just might flip the script on what we have come to expect from the genre. Moreover, with All Nighter, it becomes clear that a French invasion led by a slender young musical dynamo might well follow the recent plundering of American music charts by the Brits. People have been asking me if Madonna’s former producer, Mirwais, has his hand in Naommon’s debut album, Allnighter. While the two French electronic popsters have not teamed together, the similarities are definitely there. Sleek and out now on iTunes, Allnighter has already made fans out of dance-floor hipsters Billie Ray Martin ( Your Loving Arms, Undisco Me ) and The Ones ( Flawless ) . Ever the multifaceted artist, the young Parisian has done self-portraits that could easily pass for an homage to a Kick-era Michael Hutchence. Now residing in Harlem, Naommon appears in the Gay.com underwear slide show along with other LGBT artists like Joshua Klipp, Ari Gold and The Cliks’ Lucas Silveira. – David Byrne, Windy City Times (Chicago), August 21, 2007

I first heard Naommon on "Jack the Box", a club track produced by French-electro producers Kiko & Gino for International Deejay Gigolo Records. The song itself was true bump-n-grind, and Naommon's vocals irreverent, obnoxious... & wonderful. So I was pretty excited to hear Naommon's new CD, "Allnighter", a musical interpretation of a night out in the Big Apple. No less glittery and gritty than his previous work, Naommon describes his "Allnighter" CD as "electro-purple-flouro-plastic-sulky-acid-soul-clashy-disco- sequin-pop". His voice and music transcend categorization and are truly eclectic in style, embodying a myriad of influences from "the spaceglam of Bowie, androgyny of Prince, and acidfunk of Deee-lite, to London's creatively fucked-up NagNagNag parties and New York's popping Downtown scene." Currently available on iTunes, his French-electro-soul twelve-track CD, "Allnighter", will officially launch on August 7, 2007. Definitely worth your time, you can also check out his "Allnighter" video here or on Naommon's MySpace page - where you can also stream a few other tunes. – EthanSays.com

Naommon bristles with energy. The Parisian singer, who recently relocated to New York City, moves like a downed power line, setting off sparks as he jumps restlessly from place to place, or jitters in his seat, eyes darting, hand moving quickly to arrange a stray strand of hair or rolling his shoulders to loosen himself up for a jab of conversation or a burst of song. He's ready for the big time with killer good looks, charisma to spare and a wardrobe that spans denim coveralls and designer jackets….

Naommon's lyrics paint ornate pictures of big-city nightlife and the crowd that searches for the latest hot spot with the hit of the moment blazing from the speakers of their limos. …Naommon's sound combines the thump of classic disco, the quirky funk of '80s club rock, a touch of hip-hop, a bit of Prince's sass, R&B meets Bee Gees backing vocals and melodies that are pure pop. He sings in a style that combines a diva's drama with a rock star's impassive snarl. – J. Poet, PlanetOut.com, August 8, 2007

With its sultry, insistent refrains, out Harlem-based French singer Naommon's "You Go to My Head" stands out on this electro-pop album that sounds as if it was covered in Elmer's Glue and then dipped into a vat of glitter. A constantly surprising and inventive debut, Naommon practically begs you to dance wildly around your room—preferably while clutching a cocktail. —MP, HX (NYC), September 7, 2007 + 411 (Florida), September 19, 2007

"Electro-purple-fluoro-plastic-sulky-acid-housey-soul-clashy -disco-sequin-pop" is the label Naommon puts on his own music. And this album is just that. Electro-soul is another word that comes into my head while listening.

I discovered Naommon in 2003 after he released "I Am Not Ashamed" on the cred-label Hot Banana. And then a few years should go by before i once again could jump around, ecstatic and declare "this is the record that will finally create world peace!". I have such outbursts from time to time.

But right now, while dancing around to the title track, "Allnighter", turning the volume up to "Spinal Tap +11"-level, it..s like an overwhelming feeling of harmony and i want to run out into the street and scream: "Dance goddammit!".

I think Naommon himself may have thoughts like that, while travelling between Paris and Harlem, creating music. Sometimes in dayglo dresses. Other times in black leather jacket, or simply without clothes at all. "I..m A Woman", Naommon declares with boyish pop sensibility while bending his slender body backwords in a vogue-pose. Glorious!

Naommon is a child of the 80s, teen of the 90s and then, when the clock struck 2000, out came the club kid. As a result this record is a mishmash of influences like Bowie, Prince and Dee-Lite, through to electroclash and pure pop.

There are those who felt Scissor Sisters took the wrong turn after their debut-hit "Comfortably Numb". Well, sharpen your senses and keep an eye on Naommon. "Allnighter" made me trade my Jack Daniels for some pure vodka. And god knows you stay fresh that much longer. Pure pop and pure spirit! Buy it now on iTunes. – Reidar Engesbak, Blikk (Norway), October 2007 (English translation)

When Frenchman Naommon, who accurately describes his sound as “electro-purple-fluoro-plastic-sulky-acid-housey-soul-clas hy-disco-sequin-pop,” is good, he’s very good. On his U.S. debut disc “Allnighter” (naommon.com) that holds true for about half of it. “You’re So Boyish” and “I’m A Woman” show a genuine appreciation for Human League-era electro. “Beginning Everyday,” perhaps the most straightforward pop tune on the disc, is refreshing and just plain fun. Among the assorted hip-hop-oriented tracks on the disc, “Hurry Up” is clearly the most successful. To Naommon’s credit, “You Go To My Head” goes to both the listener’s head and feet.– Gregg Shapiro, Chicago Free Press, Outsmart Magazine (Houston), October 2007
