The Cruise - debut single OUT NOW!!

About Me

SKANKt’s drive to write and create interesting music is intense, expansive and unhinged, 'they could one day sit on a Tarantino sound track' l - London tour dates
This is music that pulls people to the dance floor and sends them home broken, 'It was an absolute party, this is true of any SKANKt gig' - music-news.com
SKANKt’s brand of alternative/ska/rock is a unique groove lead, lyrically topical soundscape, off beat guitars and melodic horns wrapped round break-beat, Latin, drum’n’bass and rock beats.
Matt, Dan and Bean went to the same school in Cheltenham and formed an early scaled down line up in 2000. Soon joined by Kate they gigged locally through the US tinged punk/ska hay-day and started to build a loyal following. Geordie Bassist Paul completed the then 5 piece and the band started working with Gloucester based music collective ‘11a records’.
The first studio album ‘perfect timing’ arrived in 2003. BBC Gloucestershire said ‘It's not hard to see why the band's following is going from strength to strength as 'Perfect Timing' mixes up a wicked variety of styles in a neat and well-produced package’. SKANKt followed the studio time with several mini-tours around the UK over the next 2 years supporting the likes of Capdown, King Prawn, The slackers and the Selecter.
2005, Tim finalised the line up and also saw SKANKt play the Nokia Isle of White Festival as part of the white air extreme sports village, and sharing a stage with Radio 1s Giles Peterson at the award winning Wychwood Festival.
The following year the band started work on new album ‘Thieves operate in this area’ at J&J studios Bristol. After securing sponsorship and working like Greek steeds the album was pressed and in March 2008 SKANKt’s first official single ‘The Cruise’ was released through their own label and hit I-tunes. With Xfm Scotland backing the single and lots of nationwide student-radio airplay circulating the band started their largest UK tour to date and in May picked up a nomination in the ‘Best Indie’ category at the ‘Exposure Music Awards’
Tours for Autumn 08 and Spring 09 and being booked and new material already written.
Slow your-self down… Take 5 minutes to think… This is where the freethinking and bold kicks out the Soft focus homogenised crap.
