Life can kick your butt...so, kick it back!!

About Me

ATTITUDE
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today". So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
"H-M-M, " she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today." So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
"Well," she said, "Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YEAH!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"
ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING.

I'm 25 and happily married to Steve. No children, well...my Enlish Bulldog is my child. Her name is Guenevere Victoria. My other child is our Harley-Davidson motorcycle. We love to ride and our big project now is building a bike of our own. I make crafts and work as a volunteer for the lupus walk in Atlanta every year since I helped start it.
I was diagnosed with lupus in January of 1996. My lupus attacked my skin, joints, and brain/central nervous system that year. I was told I wouldn't survive 24 hours but I am a fighter and I had tons of people praying for me...God couldn't ignore everyone's pleas for my life. :) I did make it but I had to re-learn to read, write, and walk all over again. The medications made me gain incredible amounts of weight but I knew I would get through it. I did great for awhile and then in 2003 I went into kidney failure from my lupus. I was told I probably wouldn't make it again and that I would never finish college or get married (I was engaged at the time). Again, I was ready to fight for my life. I underwent almost 3 years of chemotherapy treatments and IV steroids. I gained all the wieght back again but my kidneys are functioning again. I have been off steroids since July of 2006 and chemo since Jan of 2006. It is the first time I have been off steroids since I was diagnosed. I am feeling good and I hope it continues. :)
I love to just sit and read...but don't get me wrong, I love movies too. I tend to watch the movies that are no namers on the movie channels, but I enjoy the main stream movies too. I love to read murder mysteries and true crime stories. One of my goals in life is to find a dead body and do the investigation on how it ended up there...LOL! Yes, down deep inside, I'm sick and twisted.
I graduated from college in May of 2005 after 7 years of college! I have a degree in Psychology and Criminology. I'm currently a substitute teacher in our county. I wish I could work full time but my health won't allow it right now. Substitute teaching allows me to make my own schedule and still get out in the real world. :) I also attend Bible Study Fellowship every year. It gives me a great way to meet new Christian women.
I love the theatre. I have seen Phantom of the Opera over 19 times and in more than 8 different cities. I have seen tons of theatre productions at the Fox Theatre (we get season tickets every year) and I just love to go and see something new. My mom and I are the best of friends and love to go on vacations together. We plan a trip every Columbus Day so we can "explore" a place we have never been.
I love meeting new people. In fact I got to meet a new dear friend last summer in Savannah and some distant relatives last fall. If life wasn't so complicated, I would do nothing but travel the states and the world.
I want to make my mark on the lives of others...in a good way so I always try to keep a positive attitude about life and display that to others. Dispite the fact that I have lupus, I try to live life was best as I can. But I would do anything to get rid of this disease. I know I have grown as a person because of it but I hate it...and there isn't much in life that I hate. I guess I'm one of those "glass is half full" people...but I'm not annoying about it...at least I don't think so.
I miss all my friends and family in Indy but I'm glad I moved. Living in Georgia has changed my life for the good. I needed out. :)
Well, I guess that's me in a nutshell. :)

To A Beautiful Person

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

He sends you flowers every spring.

He sends you a sunrise every morning.

Whenever you want to talk, He listens.

He can live anywhere in the universe, but He chose your heart.

Face it friend, He is crazy about you!

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.
