About Me

Rhett y Los Borrachos Empenados
Contact: [email protected]
Rhett y los Borrachos Empenados, a group of Cuban-American musicians from Miami who have been writing, recording and performing collectively for about 2 years, are currently promoting their debut Spanish-language album Entre Dios y El Diablo. The band has also written, recorded and performed as Rhett and the Pawnshop Drunks.
The first single from the disc, "El Negro y La Balsa (si nos coje Fidel)", was received with open arms by MTV Espanol, where the accompanying video reached number 4 on heavy rotation. It also did well with industry critics: Boom! Magazine selected "El Negro y La Balsa" as one of its top 100 songs of 2005-2006 (number 55).
Retro-Latino is an apt way to describe the sound of Rhett y Los Borrachos Empenados, which ranges from sensitive ballads to mid-tempo funk rock, from chamber music arrangements to salsa orchestra-type voicings. The band is Rhett on lead vocals and guitar, Tony Suarez on percussion and Michael Mut on bass and backing vocals.
Entre Dios y el Diablo is now available in chain and independent record stores in the lower 48 and Puerto Rico and @ the following online stores:
